  2. Colt Character Student behavior is a growing concern in Creston School. As a school, we want to help you learn positive behaviors. Creston School is participating in a very important program, “Colt Character”. We are using this program to help all of our students have a safe, positive learning environment and to provide consistency of expectations in all areas of our school.

Take Responsibility ● Keep your hands, feet, and other objects to yourself. ● Remain in assigned location. ● Request and obtain permission to leave the classroom.

Take Responsibility ● Work to solve problems individually and report unsolved problems to an adult! ● When out of class, go only to the area approved by your teacher!

Playground & Indoor Recess Act Respectfully ● Share equipment and welcome others to join in games! ● Be respectful of other classes in session while outside and in line! ● Use playground equipment properly during and after school. Consider Safety ● Swing on your bottom and stay away from others swinging. ● Slide feet first on your bottom and go down only! ● Stay within school boundaries. ● Line up promptly after the whistle or bell. Quit playing, hold onto all equipment, and line up when whistle or bell rings. ● Take Responsibility ● Work to solve problems individually and report unsolved problems to an adult! ● Report danger to an adult immediately!!!!

  12. Classroom Incentives Students will receive COLT CHARACTER tickets “horseshoes” when they are caught meeting expectations. After a class has been awarded 30 horseshoes, the class will earn an incentive to be decided by the teacher. (pajama day, stuffed animal to school, etc.) One class incentive will equal 1 school wide horseshoe. Once the school earns 30 horseshoes, there will be a school wide incentive chosen by PBIS team. (popsicles, extra recess, etc.)

  13. School-wide Incentives To be eligible to participate in the schoolwide incentive, the student must have less than 5 behavioral detentions, 5 minors, or 1 major during the quarter. Students with more than 5 behavioral detentions, 5 minors, or 1 major will be sent to an alternate location for the duration of the incentive. (a dance, extra recess, popcorn, ice cream, popsicles, etc.).

  14. Behavior Flow Chart (Minors) ● First offense- verbal reminder ● Second offense- rectification and/or reflection ○ Think sheet, fix it, apologize, redo it, etc. ● Third offense- disciplinary action with parent notification (phone call and/or letter) ○ loss of privilege, time-out, detention, etc. ● Fourth offense- disciplinary action with parent conference ○ loss of privilege, time-out, detention, etc. ● Fifth offense- administrative intervention (ODR-major behavior)

  15. Minors/Detentions Inappropriate Language Physical Contact Defiance Disrespect Disruption Dress Code Property Misuse Stealing Other Classroom Managed Behaviors

  16. Majors Abusive Language Fighting/Physical Aggression Defiance Disrespect Harassment/ Bullying Theft Lying/Cheating Other Emergency or Endangering Behaviors 5 minors become a major if for same behavior

  17. Positive Rewards Colt Character Tickets Incentives (class and school) Positive notes home Intrinsic Reward- knowing you are doing the right thing
