 TURN LOOSE OF IT.  IT’S GONE! IT ISN”T COMING BACK (NOR IS

1975, 1965, 1955), etc.

 We absolutely have to stop utilizing the vast

majority of our resources fighting to preserve the rules and regulations and actions of the past.

 We must honor it and celebrate, but we are

not required to be left behind trying to hold

 Be the “agent” of change, not the victim. Be

seen as someone/some group willing to try someone new

 YES, you can be proactive. You must see into

the future by paying as much attention to the kid’s desires as you do the near-retirement folks desires

  • Examples- Concussion legislation, Media and

 New Program Expansion. Our vision

statement should be simple, “Every Child, Participating”

 Be open minded and review options. THE

KIDS WANT IT

 Be the leader from the office. Position

yourself with your Board, your schools to the point that they view change as positive

 Some will say “we can’t afford it”. I respond

 You will fail with some things you try, but as

Lincoln said, “My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure. ”

 Holding too firmly to the past, I believe, we

sincerely risk losing the influential position that athletics and fine arts activities play in the development of young people. We must continue the fight.
