  3. 9 th Grade – Class of 2021 English Course Options • English 9 or • Honors English 9 1. Motivated students, want to be challenged and were successful in English 8. Students with a grade lower than a B speak with your current English teacher about best fit. 2. Reading and Writing outside of class is required. 3. Summer Reading is also required. Collect summer reading material from your counselor.

Algebra 301 Requirements are met School & State Intensified Algebra Geometry in Financial Algebra requirements Construction Algebra in Accounting I Manufacturing Math 250 (AMPED) **Math Course Placement for registration is based on recommendation from your current Math teacher.   8. 9 th Grade (Class of 2021) Science Course Options Science Graduation Requirements • 3.0 credits of laboratory science 9 th grade - Biology or Agricultural Biology (1 credit) • 10 th or 11 th grade - Physics or AP Physics I (1 credit) • 10 th or 11 th grade - Chemistry or CHS Chemistry • (1 credit) • Both Physics and Chemistry must be taken to graduate, however – the order of them is interchangeable. • Some 4-year colleges and universities recommend or require 4 years of science

World Language Choices French 1, 2, 3 • French 3 is available for “College in the High School” credit. • You can earn college credit by receiving an A or B in French 3 and paying the college tuition fee. American Sign Language (ASL) 1, 2, 3 and 4 • Also counts as an Occ. Ed Credit Spanish 1, 2, 3 and 4/ Heritage Spanish • You can earn 5 Skagit Valley College Credits by receiving an A or B in Spanish 4 • Most native Spanish speakers start in Spanish 3 or 4 World Language is not a graduation requirement. For those students planning to attend a 4-year university, the requirement is typically a minimum of 2 years. • Some schools like UW require 3 years (with the option to take the 3 rd year at UW) • Check with your college of interest to be sure!!

  14. Fine Art General Information  WA state requires 1.0 credits (1 year) in the Arts to graduate.  Occ Ed. equivalency credit – the following courses can also fulfill Occ. Then get an application from your counselor or an AVID teacher. Freshman or Sophomore Year note taking strategies, organization, study skills, reading strategies, meet deadlines and academic support for success Junior Year college reading and writing, SAT/ACT prep, cooperative study groups, college essay practice for applications and scholarships Senior Year college applications, scholarships, FAFSA, SAT/ACT support, more college reading, writing, and academic study groups

  21. Health Course Health is a STATE and DISTRICT requirement: ❖ You need .5 credits of Health ➢ or 1 semester of Family Health

PE ❖ PE is a State and District Requirement ❖ You need 3 classes (1.5 credits) of PE ➢ All PE courses have a computer component ❖ You can take as many PE classes you want during your high school career  You are allowed 1 class per semester  When you are a Junior or Senior you may be a TA for a PE class and be enrolled in one, too
