  3. Cardolite is the leading manufacturer of products derived from cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL), a natural, renewable chemical raw material. 3

  4. Commercial research of CNSL dates to 1926 with the formation of Harvel Corporation, and subsequent commercial application by Irvington Varnish and Insulator in friction products for the automotive industry. 4

  5. In 1953, 3M Corporation bought Irvington Varnish and Insulator and its New Jersey factory. CNSL-based epoxy curing agents were developed by 3M in 1972. 5

  6. In 1984, 3M sold the factory to existing management. For over 25 years, Cardolite has focused exclusively on CNSL-based epoxy and friction product formulation raw materials. 6

  7. Cardolite employs over 250 people globally. 7

  8. Cardolite is headquartered in the US with manufacturing in Newark, NJ, and an R&D/Sales/Marketing office in Monmouth Junction, NJ 8

  9. Cardolite runs a full manufacturing, sales, and research operation in Southern China to service the large demand for Cardolite products in China, Korea, and Japan. 9

  10. Cardolite’s manufacturing and sales operation in Southern India is close to major CNSL sources and services both domestic and international customers. 10

  11. Cardolite has full warehousing and sales operations centrally located in Belgium to service the European and Middle Eastern markets. 11

  12. Sales staff located in Singapore services the Southeast Asian, Australian, and New Zealand markets, and dedicated sales staff to the Latin American market. 12

  13. Product Line Overview 13

  14. Cashew Nut All Cardolite products are made from cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL) - a naturally occurring, renewable oil from the shell of the cashew nut. This material is manufactured as a by-product of the nut industry mainly in Brazil, India, and Vietnam. 14

  15. 25% Kernel 25% Cashew Liquid 50% Fiber and Shell OH CNSL is approximately 25% of the cashew kernel by weight. The primary component of CNSL is cardanol, a natural phenolic compound with a long aliphatic side chain. 15

  16. Cardanol for coatings products CNSL Distillation CNSL polymer for friction products CNSL is distilled to produce purified cardanol and a CNSL polymer, the building blocks of Cardolite’s two primary businesses. 16

  17. Cardolite coatings products are used in high performance epoxy systems, and friction products are used in car, truck, and train brakes 17

  18. Epoxy Curing Agents • Phenalkamines – CNSL-based epoxy curing agents – Low temperature cure – Fast Cure – Low VOC – Excellent corrosion resistance – Surface tolerant • Phenalkamides – CNSL-modified polyamide epoxy curing agent – Fast cure – Low viscosity – Color stable • Designed for heavy duty coatings, adhesives, and for marine, protective, and concrete applications 18

  19. Epoxy Modifiers • Reactive and non-reactive diluents - Low viscosity - Hydrophobic - Light color - Flexible - Low volatility - Low odor - Non-toxic - Naturally-based • Resins - Flexible and tough - Hydrophobic • Designed for epoxy systems in coatings, adhesives, and composite applications 19

  20. CNSL Polyols • Mono and multi-functional - Hydrophobic - Excellent base resistance - Flexible - Low volatility - Low odor - Non-toxic - Naturally-based • Designed for polyurethane systems in coatings, adhesives, foam, and composite applications 20

  21. Friction Products • CNSL-based friction products are used in the brakes of cars, trucks, and trains to control wear and resist heat. Car brake pads • Friction particle and resin are sold to OEM and after-market brake pad, lining, and shoe manufacturers • Primary benefits: Rail brake shoes - Improves wear and fade - Good thermal stability - Improved flexibility - Non-toxic Drum brake lining 21

  22. Manufacturing and R&D 22

  23. Manufacturing • The most advanced CNSL plants in the world • Newark, NJ built in the 1950’s • Zhuhai, Guangdong, China (Sino- American JV) built in 2004 • Mangalore, India built in 2013 • Large capacity to produce • Epoxy & Polyol resins • Epoxy curing agents • Friction particles and resins • Close to strategic ports • Warehouse and tank storage • R&D, Tech Service, and QC labs • Administrative offices • 24/7 operation 23

  24. All Cardolite facilities strive to meet the highest standards of safety, environment, and quality control. 24

  25. With 4 research laboratories, Cardolite continues to invest heavily in R&D and technical service to find new markets and products based on natural and renewable CNSL-based materials. 25

  26. R&D and Technical Service • CNSL-based polyols - Foam - Coatings - Composite structures • High chemical resistance coatings • High performance resins • Low color CNSL technology • Environmentally friendly technology - Non-toxic and renewable performance alternatives - Solvent-free systems • Cost effective systems 26
