Capezio Contractors, Inc. Wins the Chrysalis Award
“This was the first year that Capezio Contractors entered the awards, and to take home top honors on the first attempt is impressive and to win an award in this highly competitive category is quite an achievement,” says Ken Kanline, Director
- f the Awards
The Chrysalis Awards program, begun in 1994, recognizes the nation’s best work in fifteen general categories of residen- tial and commercial remodeling. The Chrysalis Awards are
- pen to every professional remodeler and design professional
in the United States. Continuing to set new standards of professionalism, 84 restoration/remodeling companies from across the United States were named winners at the Chrysalis Awards for Remodeling Excellence. There were over 400 entries and they were judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the
- riginal structure.
Winning Project
A single family home almost burned to the ground following a severe fire. It took firefighters more than two hours to put out the fire. Thankfully, no one was home at the time of the fire, and no firefighters were injured. As with any devastating insurance loss of this magnitude, the family was distraught and extreme compassion was in
- rder. After securing the property, we helped the family sift
through the remains of their belongings, trying to find important mementos and documents. Some design challenges included adding a new custom walk-in closet above the garage, relocating the laundry room upstairs, and improving the deck and installing brick pavers on the patio below. Other challenges occurred because Baltimore Gas and Electric could not locate where they had turned off the power and delayed sending crews out to locate it . Since most
- f the reconstruction took place during cold winter months, we
had to run auxiliary power in order to work and acclimate materials. The result was a brand new home, completed with the home-
- wners’ personal touches and improvements, and they were
thrilled!
