Radium Bore Hole Buried Radium Benches
These were both located within the basement area of our Out-Patient Department, due to be demolished in Phase 3 - October 2014. The basement area housed our entire Medical Records department, some 7500 linear meters of records and approximately 25 staff.

In the mid 1980s an ex member of staff, who was in his late eighties, reported to our RPA that during the mid 1930s they had buried some Radium contaminated (benches/tables) in the basement area of the OPD. He provided a hand drawn sketch of the area where they were buried, unfortunately shortly after this he passed away. I was made aware of this issue in January 2003, three years prior to the PFI commencing.
