  4. Research problem and study implications  Lack of implementation of WSUD principles in urban cities that have rural characteristics especially in developing countries.  Generate urban groundwater information which will help strengthen planning of water sensitive urban cities with rural characteristics. UNESCO Chair on Groundwater Wednesday 11 November 2015 4

  5. RQ and thesis statement Research Question To what extent does urban hydrogeology in cities with rural characteristics functions to facilitate decision making regarding implementation of WSUD principles? Thesis statement Implementation of WSUD Principles should consider different settings of cities especially in the developing countries where urban areas have rural characteristics of land uses such as Cape Town City where CFA exist. UNESCO Chair on Groundwater Wednesday 11 November 2015 5

  6. Research objectives  Aim Provide explanation on how urban hydrogeology of cities with rural characteristics functions to facilitate decision making regarding implementation of WSUD principles  Objectives Assess groundwater-surface water interaction using hydrometric and hydrochemistry methods Estimate aquifer parameters using Theis, Cooper-Jacob and Neuman’s Curve matching methods Simulate groundwater flow system using site specific conceptual and numerical models UNESCO Chair on Groundwater Wednesday 11 November 2015 6
