! Training

Over the past 2 years, the UPA has conducted 22 training

sessions across the state for emergency responders and public officials. The training consists of a tabletop exercise, safety information concerning the products and the hazards associated with those products and contact information (emergency, local and corporate) for all of our members. Aside from our scheduled training sessions, we have, at the request of local government, conducted additional sessions for their employees.

! Blue Stakes of Utah

Along with providing training for emergency responders and

public officials, the Utah Pipeline Association has partnered with Blue Stake of Utah to provide training to excavators throughout the state. In the past 2 years, Blue Stakes has conducted 27 training sessions across the state for more than 3,500 excavators. This training consists of how to call in a one call ticket, what the laws are in Utah concerning the excavation process, what to do if a utility is damaged and how to prevent utility damage. New for the 2012 training, Blue Stakes and the Utah Pipeline Association, in conjunction with the Pipeline Association for Public Awareness, created a 15-minute video instructing excavators

  • n safe digging practices, use of the one call system, steps to be taken

in case of utility damage and how to spot and react to a pipeline release.
