Oct 29, 2004 Board approved creation of 4 Sustainability Innovation Funds: one for GVRD, Liquid Waste, Solid Waste and Water 2005 Amount of additional GST rebate deposited into each Fund 2006 thru today Contributions equal to 2005 rebate made annually The 4 Funds are part of Metro Vancouver reserves.
the region’s sustainability
– restricted to Metro Vancouver operations and functions (GVRD Fund encourages involvement of member municipalities) – not for “business as usual” projects
decision‐making and reporting on impacts
.
– Must be lead by GVRD function and consistent with GVRD portfolio of responsibilities: air quality management, regional parks, regional planning and housing policy, as well as initiatives in the areas of ecological health, climate change mitigation and climate change adaptation.
– $600,000 in awards annually – $100,000 annual limit per project
– Decreasing regional greenhouse gas emissions – Increasing awareness of nature and natural systems.
