  • High School dropouts earn $8,000 a year less than high school

graduates and $26,500 a year less than college graduates.

  • A high school dropout will earn $200,000 less than a high school

graduate and almost $1,000,000 less than a college graduate.

  • 67% of inmates in America’s state prison are high school dropouts.
  • High school dropout commit 75% of crimes in the United States.
  • High School graduates have better health and a longer life

expectancy (college educated women live 9.3 years longer than those who drop out, the difference is 11.9 years in men).

HOPE Scholarship

  • Students start earning a college scholarship

their first day in 9th grade (8th grade classes for high school credit do not count toward HOPE)

  • Academic classes in your Freshman year will

count toward their GPA (Grade Point Average)

  • HOPE scholarships are awarded with 3.0 (B) or

higher GPA

  • Students must take 4 “rigor” classes to qualify

Core GPA for Hope

  • Math, Science, Social Studies, English and Foreign Language

classes “count” in determining your Core Grade Point Average

  • No weighting of AP or Honors Classes
  • Calculating Core GPA: Average your grades

If your Report Card had

  • 5 A’s
  • 7 B’s
  • 3 C’s
  • 1 F

These grades would result in a 2.9 Core GPA!

  • Credit Recovery is offered for students who fail a class
  • WIN Time during lunch will make a difference!
  • Teachers are willing to help!
  • There are a lot of options for Junior/Senior year
  • Good attendance/being on time are keys to success!
  • The value of your relationship with the school counselor
  • Plan ahead for unique course options

Get an Early Start on High School!

If you take Band and Chorus classes or are an athlete taking weight training, scheduling can be difficult. Get a head start by taking PE/Health class during the summer through Catoosa Online!

On-Line Registration

  • Students can register for classes through their

student portal account, similar to parent portal.

  • During Advisement, students will be trained on

how to register for classes.

  • Students will choose 8 classes and 3 alternates
  • On-Line Registration ends February 14th
  • Help is available at HHS on February 6th and

10th at HHS from 6:00-7:30

  • Develop a 4 year plan
  • Plan on meeting Hope rigor requirements
