Coal Supply Modification (MOD 4)

1

Due to difficult geological conditions at Springvale, impacting both coal quantity and quality, Mount Piper Power Station is experiencing a shortfall in coal supplies.

  • To address this issue and provide future flexibility of coal supply two modifications

are being progressed:

  • Modification to temporarily (2019 – December 2020) increase the volume of coal

that can be trucked from Clarence (100,000t to 200,000t)

  • Modification to install and operate temporary rail unloading infrastructure at the

Lidsdale Coal Loading site to enable the site to receive coal via rail when Mount Piper Power Station is experiencing a shortage of coal

  • Modification to Clarence recently completed public exhibition. A response to

submissions received during this period has been lodged with the Department.

slide-18
SLIDE 18

Employee Increase Modification (MOD 5)

1

  • A modification application has been submitted to the Department of Planning

and Environment to increase the number of full time equivalent personnel at Clarence Colliery from 300 to 400.

  • Additional personnel required to improve productivity following the

commencement of additional rib bolting as part of underground operations.

  • The SEE has identified that environmental impacts are minimal.
  • If approved, will have positive socio-economic effects in the Lithgow local

government area and surrounding region.

SLIDE 19

Proposed Activities for the next period

  • Continued trials in Water Treatment Plant processes,
  • REA V Construction commencing,
  • Preparation for Rehabilitation and Decommissioning of Reject Emplacement

Area 3 (continuing),

  • Continued studies for projects - Clarence Pipeline Project, Clarence to Charbon

rehabilitation material transfer.
