Intercessions: Spirit of God, guide us.

For a true spirit of worship in our parishes, that our Sunday Eucharist might both celebrate and express our faith as a community gathered, we pray ... For the spirit of evangelization in our parishes, that in all we do we might proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God, we pray ... For the powerful spirit of your Word to touch our hearts, we pray…. For a generous spirit of stewardship, that the gifts and talents of all our people may be directed to the church’s mission, we pray ... For the spirit of leadership, that courageous and visionary collaboration may help shape the life of our parishes, we pray ...

Difference Between Parish and Church

A parish is a territory (geographic region), with people and a priest(s). Churches are sacred buildings designated for divine worship. In January 2020 our three parishes will merge into one new parish. The current parishes will cease and we will become one new entity.

9

slide-10
SLIDE 10

Difference Between Parish and Church

In the future we will have to determine how best to use all

  • f the existing buildings of the three current parishes,

including churches. This process will include input from staff, advisory councils and parishioners. After the merger is finalized we may also need to reconsider the Mass schedule. Parishioners will be involved in feedback

  • n any changes.

At the time of merger the new parish will receive a new name and the church buildings will retain their current names.
