  3. Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW  Peak body for all culturally and linguistically diverse communities in NSW since 1975  The ECCNSW undertakes a range of activities, including government funded projects that focus on;  Community  Advocacy  Education

  4. WHAT DOES THE ECCNSW DO;  Advocates for the Government to consult with all ethnic communities and to respect and protect their rights.  Enters into formal consultation regularly with both the NSW Government and the Opposition to discuss and advise on a broad range of policies affecting ethnic communities.  Has special focus on new and emerging communities, particularly in identifying access opportunities fill their unmet needs.  Ensures ongoing areas pertaining to children, young people, families, ageing, disability and refugee issues remain on government agendas

History of the Multicultural Access Program 2015-2018 – Community Care Support Program funded by Ageing Disability and Home Care (ADHC) Family and Community Services (FACS) for young people with a disability and their families 1980 2000 2005 2011 2015 2016 2017 2018 2015 2015-2017 – Funding under MAP MAP MAP (November) the Commonwealth Home Established Review Funded by HACC transition Support Program under the conducted Department to Home and of Ageing, Commonwealths Community Disability Commonwealth Care and Home Home Support Program Care until Program (CHSP) (HACC) 2011 for +65 programs and activities Resource developed by the NSW MAP Network – building the capacity of our CALD communities

  9. PURPOSE OF THE MAP PROGRAMME…. IMPROVE ACCESS & EQUITY  for CALD older people, younger people with a disability and their carers STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF THE CHSP & CCSP  services system to respond to the needs of the CALD target group STRENTHEN THE CAPACITY OF COMMUNITIES  to engage, participate, and navigate the changing community care system RESPOND TO & INFORM POLICY & PROGRAM DIRECTION  that affects delivery to CALD communities PROVIDE ADVICE & INFORMATION  to CHSP and CCSP services and related programs on CALD communities access and equity Resource developed by the NSW MAP Network – building the capacity of our CALD communities

Objectives under the Commonwealth 2 Main Objectives  Sector Support & Development (Standard 1 – Expected Outcome 1:4 – Community understanding & engagement)  Enhance capacity and competence of service providers to be more responsive to CALD communities  Undertake activities which identified gaps & needs  contribute to policy  Develop good practice in a changing environment  Community Support & Development (Standard 3 – Expected Outcome 3.4, Advocacy)  Build the capacity of CALD communities to access commonwealth support services  Undertake activities which identified gaps & needs  Contribute to policy Develop good practice in a changing environment  Resource developed by the NSW MAP Network – building the capacity of our CALD communities

National CALD Ageing & Aged Care Strategy Principle of Inclusion, Empowerment, Access & Equity, Quality, Capacity Building Strategic Goals and Actions Goal 1 - CALD input positively affects the development of ageing and aged care policies and programs that are appropriate and responsive Goal 2 - Achieve a level of knowledge, systems capacity and confidence for older people from CALD backgrounds, their families and carers to exercise informed choice in aged care . Goal 3 - Older people from CALD backgrounds are able and have the confidence to access and use the full range of ageing and aged care services. Goal 4 - Monitor and evaluate the delivery of ageing and aged care services to ensure that they meet the care needs of older people from CALD backgrounds, their families and carers Goal 5 - Enhance the CALD sector’s capacity to provide ageing and aged care services. Goal 6 - Achieve better practice through improving research and data collection mechanisms that are inclusive of cultural and linguistic diversity in the ageing population. Service Outcomes ….  The service system is better equipped to respond to the specific needs of CALD population.  System planning processes are responsive to the specific needs of the CALD population.  CALD communities are better informed about the aged, disability and other related programs and the services they offer.  Access & use of services by CALD clients is reflective of local/regional demographics.  Productive cohesion & network between the funded project and other relevant community care services.
