CLA Strategy 2018
- The CLA Strategy sets out the Council’s
priorities for Children Looked After and Care Leavers.
- The Strategy was produced with
children and young people.
- It sets out how we will meet our
Corporate Parenting duty.

National Corporate Parenting Principles
Local Authorities requirements in relation to children looked after and care leavers:
- To act in their best interests and promote their health and
wellbeing;
- To encourage the voice of the child
- To promote access to services (including partners’)
- To promote high aspirations
- To ensure they are safe and have stability at home,
education, work and in their relationships
- To prepare children looked after and care leavers for
adulthood.

- 51 would be boys and 49 would be girls
- 5 would be from Black and Minority Ethnic families
- 13 would live in low income families
- 52 families with more than one child
- 9 school aged children would have mental health disorders

- 2 pupils have had at least one fixed term exclusion
- 5 16-17 year olds would be NEET
