communication tool to contact teachers is email, all teachers have an email account with the school.

parent teacher conference they can call the Counseling Clerk at 796- 7300 x8227 for a conference. Counselors:

by filling out the google form “Request to see Counselor”, the computer is available at the front desk. The counselors will then pull out your student as soon as they are available.

  • Parents can call the Counseling Clerk at 796-

Middle school is an important transition to high school. In middle school, students develop organization and study habits that will follow them throughout their lives.

ORGANIZATION STARTS WITH THE RIGHT SUPPLIES

Essential middle school supplies:

  • binder
  • lined paper
  • writing utensils (pens, pencils, erasers)
  • an agenda
  • pencil cases
  • calculator
  • highlighters
  • erasers
  • post-it notes
  • charged chromebook

Your child should also have a good backpack. A backpack with different zippered compartments for different items is a great way to stay organized.

PRO ORGANIZATION TIP: If possible buy high quality and functional supplies. Binders that are falling apart will only lead to more

  • disorganization. Sturdier products will be able to

handle the abuse that middle schoolers put them

  • through. This saves the need to buy more supplies

during the school year.

***Each class may require additional materials, teachers will share their list of needed materials with students.

Chromebooks

  • The mission of the Chromebook distribution in the SUHSD is to create a

collaborative learning environment for all learners. The Chromebooks are a learning resource.

  • There is no opt-out process for receiving a Chromebook because it is an

important tool for completing assigned work, conducting research, and accessing learning materials - just like a textbook.

  • Parents can support their students by making sure they come to school with a

charged chromebook every day.

  • Please visit the school website for more detailed information about

chromebooks such as: cost for damage, replacement and student responsibility Chromebooks will be distributed when schedules are picked up. All 7th Grade students and parents must complete a 20 minute training in

  • rder to receive their Chromebook for the next 2 years.

Students should be in school daily because…...  Every day missed is two days of being behind their peers because a student must make up for missed learning and also has to catch up with new learning at the same time.  Every day students are in school, they raise their chances to score well on tests, which could lead to better opportunities for college admission and scholarships.  School is also where children learn to socialize and practice skills such as leadership, problem-solving and goal-setting, which can help them throughout their lives.  School attendance is a baseline factor in determining student success.  If you are facing a situation that prevents you from attending school on a regular basis, we encourage you to contact the school for assistance and support.

14

slide-15
SLIDE 15

ALL absences from school must be explained from a parent/guardian by a note to the attendance office, a phone call, email , or by fax. Automatic Phone Calls The Automatic System is programmed to call the student’s home twice a day, once at lunch and once in the evening, to report absences. It is intended as a courtesy only. It is the parent/guardians’ responsibility to report their student’s absences. Harden Middle School recognizes that success in school is in part related to prompt and regular classroom attendance.
