State Prescription Drug Single-Purchaser System

  • Part of the Governor Newsom’s Health Care for All Package
  • Allows government, individuals, and potentially private

employers to sit at the bargaining table to negotiate drug prices.

  • Funding application announcement requesting FY 19-20

budgets were sent out April 19th.

  • MCAH and BIH Title V and BIH GF allocations were the same as FY

2018-19

  • Title XIX Funding – LHDs could request any amount as long as they

had matching funds and justification.

  • LHD submission deadline was on May 15th.

  • The application period for CalCRG closed May 16, 2019
  • 235 applications, totaling over $84 million in requests ($9.6

million is available)

  • Awards are expected to be announced sometime in June or

  • Awardees will have from August 1, 2019 through July 31, 2021

to expend funds

  • The next cycle of CalCRG grants are expected to be

announced in early 2020
