  3. What CAE can offer you… Support. Leadership. Vision. The focus of the CAE is on: • faculty development • instructional design • innovative curriculum • faculty support in educational technologies and pedagogy • hybrid & online learning • program development • program review

  4. Programs and Activities Our Faculty Development Program (FDP) provides the foundation upon which Seneca faculty build their teaching expertise. Winter 2013 course dates: • Foundations of Teaching and Learning (FTL) : Tuesdays, January 15 to April 8 from 9:50am-12:35pm at NH (room A3091). • Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) : Wednesdays, January 16 to April 9 from 9:50am-12:35pm at NH (room B2078). TEL is offered in hybrid mode consisting of in-class and online sessions. • Inclusive Teaching and Scholarly Practice (ITSP – formerly TDAP) : Thursdays, January 17 to April 11 from 9:50am-12:35pm at NH (room A3091). Note: Some guest speakers and webinars are open to all faculty- Check out our website for upcoming dates! The Faculty Development Handbook has been aligned with the Academic Plan and the program is being revised accordingly.

Programs and Activities Professional Development Events • Three full day events each year • Teaching Learning and Curriculum Day ( October 22 ) • Teaching and Learning with Technology (February 27) • Faculty Forum (in April-June timeframe) • New this year – our Degree Conference (February 25) • Presentations by faculty, for faculty. • Emphasis for these events is on stimulating ideas, sharing practice, building community and connections across program areas.

Program Development Program Development for Degrees and other College Credentials Click to view video • New Sharepoint site (login required) developed to provide resources and tracking of new program proposals https://pmo.senecac.on.ca/projects/academic/SitePages/Home.aspx • Support and resources available through CAE for writing program and subject learning outcomes • Workshops, tutorials and webinars offered on learning outcomes, mapping curriculum, student assessment, group work, hybrid courses, etc..

Formative & Summative Program Review Formative Review • Every program will be reviewed on a regular basis (at least biennially). • Data (applications, enrolment, KPI, etc.) will be populated into the review template, which is also aligned with the Academic Plan Summative Review • Summative reviews will take place at least every 7 years . • CAE has just finished the first round of a new process which provides a central lead to support program review teams. • Greater focus on curriculum , including learning outcomes, mapping learning outcomes and assessment of learning outcomes.

Support for Faculty – take part in these communities Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) http://www.aacu.org/  1250 member institutions  Focus is on liberal education and is organized around 5 broad goals: a guiding vision for liberal education; inclusive excellence, intentional and integrative learning; civic, diversity and global engagement and authentic evidence  Conferences, institutes  Large number of publications  Large, robust resource bank including rubrics, tool kits, etc.

Support for Faculty – take part in these communities International Center for Academic Integrity (ICAI) http://www.academicintegrity.org  Forum for sharing best practices and strategies on Academic Integrity.  Offers research, workshops, conferences, speakers on AI  Policies and guidance in assessing and implementing AI strategies
