Programs and Activities

Our Faculty Development Program (FDP) provides the foundation upon which Seneca faculty build their teaching expertise.

Winter 2013 course dates:

  • Foundations of Teaching and Learning (FTL): Tuesdays, January 15 to

April 8 from 9:50am-12:35pm at NH (room A3091).

  • Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL): Wednesdays, January 16 to April

9 from 9:50am-12:35pm at NH (room B2078). TEL is offered in hybrid mode consisting of in-class and online sessions.

  • Inclusive Teaching and Scholarly Practice (ITSP – formerly TDAP):

Thursdays, January 17 to April 11 from 9:50am-12:35pm at NH (room A3091). Note: Some guest speakers and webinars are open to all faculty- Check

  • ut our website for upcoming dates!

The Faculty Development Handbook has been aligned with the Academic Plan and the program is being revised accordingly.

Professional Development Events

  • Three full day events each year
  • Teaching Learning and Curriculum Day (October 22)
  • Teaching and Learning with Technology (February 27)
  • Faculty Forum (in April-June timeframe)
  • New this year – our Degree Conference (February 25)
  • Presentations by faculty, for faculty.
  • Emphasis for these events is on stimulating ideas,

sharing practice, building community and connections across program areas.

Formative & Summative Program Review

Formative Review

  • Every program will be reviewed on a regular basis (at least

biennially).

  • Data (applications, enrolment, KPI, etc.) will be populated

into the review template, which is also aligned with the Academic Plan Summative Review

  • Summative reviews will take place at least every 7 years .
  • CAE has just finished the first round of a new process which

provides a central lead to support program review teams.

  • Greater focus on curriculum , including learning outcomes,

mapping learning outcomes and assessment of learning

  • utcomes.
