Which Students Will Participate In Spring 2008 CELLA Administration?

All active English Language Learners (ELLs-Code of LY),

in grades K through 12 at the time of administration AND

Former ELLs (Code of LF) in grades K through 12 who

exited from the ESOL program after May 26, 2007 and before April 22, 2008

Students enrolling on or after April 14, 2008, with

affirmative responses on the Home Language Survey, who have not been identified as LYs, are not included in the 2008 administration of CELLA

District Support in Assessing CELLA

Schools are responsible for the group

administration of CELLA.

District will provide staff to assist in

individual administrations for Speaking and for Kindergarten, in schools with more than 80 ELLs.

Database will be used to track district staff

assisting schools

2008 Enhancements to Level A Functional Level Testing

Only one response booklet is needed per

student

No Linking Labels New GREEN section in the Directions for

Administration and Scoring Guides Level A section

Do NOT use the Level B, C, D Answer

Administration and Scoring Guides (pgs. 285-294) addresses test accommodations.

ELL accommodations include the

Sufficient time to complete the test Heritage Language assistance with test

directions on an individual basis *Translation Dictionaries are not permissible.

Test Invalidation

Invalidate a student’s test if any of the following occurs:

  • Cheating or disruptive behavior
  • Defective USED answer documents
  • The student has an electronic device

within arms reach

  • Insufficient time

You may invalidate a student’s answer document in the following circumstances:

  • Illness during testing

CELLA Test Material Security

  • All CELLA testing materials are to be secured.
  • Test administrators must be able to account for ALL

test materials assigned to them.

  • Test administrators will be asked to sign materials in

and out.

  • Test administrators will be asked to sign a security

form at each school site.

  • All Secure materials must be returned to Student

Assessment at the completion of CELLA

Test Administrator Responsibilities

During Testing:

Distribute materials Read appropriate scripts Maintain test security Maintain a record of the information found on the document 2008

CELLA Required Administration Information; Found in Appendix B of the Test Administration Manual After Testing:

Complete the CELLA Required Administration Information. Make sure that all documents that are to be invalidated have the DNS

bubble gridded.

Group all TO BE SCORED material by grade. Complete a Grade

Header sheet for each grade tested, place it on top of the corresponding stack of TO BE SCORED material and band them together.

Group all material NOT TO BE SCORED together, place a NOT TO BE

SCORED header sheet on top and place paper bands around the documents.

Return materials to the school coordinator. Complete the Test Administrator Security Log & Online Comment Form

School Coordinator Responsibilities

Before Testing:

Receive and inventory test materials Train Test Administrators Arrange for and ensure the correct

implementation of accommodations

Provide appropriate test settings

During Testing:

Supervise test administration Maintain test security Monitor testing rooms

School Coordinator - Preparing TO BE SCORED Materials for Return

White boxes are to be used to return all of the following

TO BE SCORED materials:

Answer Sheets, Level A Student Books, and

Functional Level Test Books banded by grade level (with Grade Level Header sheet) with a completed School Header sheet on top.

Box 1 of your White boxes should contain the

CELLA Required Information, Signed Security Agreements, Suggestion Form and Survey.

Affix a completed Orange CELLA return label to all

  • f your White TO BE SCORED boxes.

Number your White boxes 1 of n, 2 of n etc., with n

being the total number of White boxes you are returning.

School Coordinator - Preparing NOT TO BE SCORED Materials for Return

Band the NOT TO BE SCORED materials with a NOT TO BE SCORED header sheet on top of the first brown box. USED/UNUSED materials should be banded with a USED/UNUSED header sheet and placed underneath the NOT TO BE SCORED materials and in subsequent brown boxes. Affix a completed green NOT TO BE SCORED label

  • n each brown box.

Number your brown boxes 1 of n, 2 of n etc. and so

Do not cover any bar codes with a Pre-ID Do not throw away any of the boxes in

your material shipment; you will need these boxes to return your materials
