CTE Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Programming
All students attend their CTE program every day (seniors in the morning and juniors in the afternoon) and return to the home district for the remainder of their educational program in-person; OR All students attend their CTE program every day (seniors in the morning and juniors in the afternoon) and complete the rest of their educational program virtually, facilitated by their home district teachers; OR All students attend their CTE program every day (seniors in the morning and juniors in the afternoon) and complete the rest of their educational program virtually. Students follow their home district schedule and attend their CTE program in accordance with their home district schedules (i.e.: A/B day or Monday, Thursday, etc.), CTE teachers provide hybrid instruction, and students return to their home district for the remainder of their educational program in person; OR Students follow their home district schedule and attend their CTE program in accordance with their home district schedules (i.e.: A/B day or Monday, Thursday, etc.), CTE teachers provide hybrid instruction, and students complete the rest of their educational program virtually.
Special Education CO BOCES Programming
District-based programs (Auburn 8:1:1, Jordan-Elbridge 6:1:2 Autism, Moravia 12:1:1, Port Byron 12:1:1 and 12:1+3:1, Skaneateles 8:1:1 and 12:1+3:1) Students must attend their educational program in accordance with the host-district schedule. Students in the BOCES classrooms follow the same schedule as their peers in the host district. Considerations: ■ Integration may need to be provided through remote instruction or synchronous video conferencing. ■ Social distancing will need to be maintained in these classrooms as with general education classrooms.
Transportation Guidelines
- Masks to be worn by drivers and students at all times on the bus and practice
social distancing.
- Temperatures to be taken as students board the bus at the morning pickup.
- One student per seat. Siblings will be sitting together.
- Buses will be sanitized following the AM and PM runs.
- All students must get on and off at the same location everyday as student
counts on the buses are monitored closely. We will not deviate from this rule.
Elementary School Information
- Students will be greeted by their teacher as they get off the bus and walked single file, spaced
according to floor markings to their classroom.
- Students will wear their face covering while in the hallway, yet may remove it at their desk.
- Students will place their coat on their chair and backpack/bag next to their desk.
- Desks will be spaced six feet apart.
- Students will remain in their classroom for instruction.
- Recess may occur outside, yet only one classroom will be together.
- Special classes such as PE, art, and music will not be taught as a separate class. When feasible,
classroom teachers will integrate activities in their classroom.
- Students will be walked to their bus by their classroom teacher at the end of the day.
- Should a parent need to pick up their child at school, they are asked to call the main office. Their
child will be retrieved and walked to their vehicle.
Junior-Senior High School Information
- Students will wear their face covering while in the hallway,
yet may remove it at their desk.
- Students will place their coat on their chair and
backpack/bag next to their desk.
- Desks will be spread six feet apart.
- Lunch will be held in classrooms.
Child Nutrition
- Students in Pre-K through 6th grade (elementary building) who are attending
in person will receive meals delivered directly to the classroom. Teachers will record student orders and send them to the cafeteria each morning for lunch and in the afternoon for breakfast the next day.
- Students in 7th through 12th grade will have a grab and go lunch option.
Students will receive their lunches by classroom at the end each hallway.
- Students who are attending online will have access to meals via a
delivery/pick up system.
- All meals will contain components necessary for compliance with the Child
Nutrition Program.
Nutrition, Continued
- Food will only be handled by cafeteria staff prior to service to the student,
and cafeteria staff will wear masks and gloves as well as follow all required hygiene and sanitation guidelines.
- All meals purchased will be entered manually into point of sale system so
that students will not be required to enter a pin number or touch a keypad.
- Modified menus can be made for students with dietary restrictions, and all
meals under modified menus will be clearly labeled with the students name for delivery.
Athletics and Extracurricular Activities
Creating extracurricular activities that can be continued remotely in the event
- f another need to move to 100% virtual learning.

Interscholastic Athletics
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) has established a COVID-19 Task Force comprised of NYSPHSAA member superintendents, principals, athletic directors and executive directors in addition to representatives from New York State Athletic Administrators Association and State Education

Considerations for Athletics and Extracurricular Activities
- Restrict use of school/district facilities to district or school sponsored
extracurricular activities and groups. If any external community
- rganizations are permitted to use school/district facilities, school districts
must ensure such organizations follow state and locally developed guidance
- n health and safety protocols.
- Maximize the use of technology and online resources to create or continue
some extracurricular activities that may not need or has limited person-to-person contact.
Extracurricular Activities and Use of Facilities Outside of School Hours
All extracurricular activities that use school facilities must follow state and local on health and safety protocols and must comply with applicable social distancing requirements and hygiene protocol.

Facilities Considerations
Health and safety of every student, teacher, and visitor is our top priority. What PPE has the district ordered?
- 30,000 student/teacher face masks
- 250 face shields for one on one instruction
- 20 table top clear partitions for breakout sessions
- 20,000 nitrile gloves for safety
- 30 non-contact thermometers
- 3 clorox total 360 electrostatic disinfecting machines with 75 cases of product
- alcohol wipes for sanitizing surfaces
- higher level of filtration for air handlers in occupied spaces
Sanitizing Protocols
- Clean and sanitize high traffic areas and specific touch points during the school day

- Various items such as gloves and masks represents a first quarter purchase
Recurring purchases for each quarter - $12,000
- Recurring purchases are estimates based upon final Governor decision and how many
students will attend in person

Cato-Meridian Elementary School will provide students with a choice of in person instruction or virtual instruction. 1. In Person Instruction (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays)
- Students will receive specialized instruction within a special class or inclusive setting per IEP
- recommendations. Access to general education curriculum and peers will be maintained with
appropriate safety controls. Students will receive all mandated modifications and accommodations.
- Related services will be provided in accordance in person with safety considerations.
- Additional online support will be provided on Wednesdays.
SWD: FAPE / Provision of Services
Cato-Meridian Junior-Senior High School will provide students with a choice of a hybrid instruction or a fully virtual model. 1. Hybrid Instruction (2 days weekly in person/ 3 days virtual)
- Students with disabilities will receive specialized instruction within the special class or
inclusive setting recommended by the CSE.
- Additional virtual instruction will be provided by both the general education and special
education teachers.
- Related services will be provided either virtually or in person based on student need.

SWD: Parent Communication and Engagement
- Parents will have the opportunity to discuss the impact of the different learning options
through a variety of means:
○ Personal meetings ○ Virtual meetings ○ Telephone calls - translation provided where needed ○ Emails - provided in home language ○ Letters - provided in home language
- Ongoing communication will be provided by special education teachers, related service
providers, as well as support staff. Communication will support student engagement, document student progress and support families in meeting student needs.
Technology Support
- Using parent surveys, we will determine which students have an available device at
home to use as well as suitable internet access to support remote learning.
- Using parent requests, the district will distribute devices to students for home use as
- needed. The district’s goal is to provide 1:1 device access to all students as soon as
possible.*Implementation of this is dependent upon NYSED approval of Smart Schools Plan as
well as device availability from vendors for purchase.
