Data exchanges are so much faster  Data exchanges are contained within one Poll Pad at a time.  No setting up multiple units at once, no cable connections with cables, power cords, etc. Uploading voter data, the bulk update and downloading the numbered lists from each unit just takes seconds. Down memory lane – training  In order to get the ExpressPolls ready for poll worker training, we had to cancel voters one-by-one in order for the counts to return to zero and to prepare for the next session of training.  Now, all you have to do is hit the “reset” button while in training mode. Path laid out for creating cards The path to creating a voter’s card is easily laid out for poll workers. Also, by having the voter complete and sign a voter certificate on the Poll Pad decreased the time to vote and the “hassle.” Voters we talked with after voting were impressed with all the new elements, including the functions they encountered on the Poll Pads. A road with no paper Voters who voted on Election Day using the Poll Pad said they really liked not having to fill out a piece of paper. All of their information pulled up, they verified it, and finally signed the Poll Pad instead of their voter certificates. GAVREO Conference December 2019

Accountability The Poll Pad has several steps and features so poll workers and managers can account for spoiled and cancelled ballots. Make sure to adhere to them so your numbers come out right after Election Night. GAVREO Conference December 2019

“That’s so easy!” There were a lot of very positive comments on the Poll Pads ease of use – from the elections office, poll workers and voters. GAVREO Conference December 2019

Then there was Election morning The issue was resolved in our county within 45 minutes. We extended voting by an hour.  Have a back-up plan. Then have another back-up plan.  Know the codes and procedures for creating ballots on the ballot-marking devices. There are a lot more pass codes with this system.  Have enough provisional ballots to account for any malfunctions.  Have the judge’s cellphone number. GAVREO Conference December 2019
