A History of Hemp

The Chinese emperor Shen Hung recorded the first medicinal use of hemp, a plant commonly used for fibers and textiles.

2737 B.C.

Hemp is grown by most major farms and is a staple of agriculture and is listed in the US Official Drug Reference Manual as a legitimate treatment for a wide range of ailments.

1850 1937

The passage of the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 ended the role

  • f cannabis as a medicine in the United States. Following

this, cannabis (including hemp) became prohibited throughout much of the world.

2012

WHAT IS CANNABIS?

Cannabis is the name of a group of plants in the Cannabaceae (canna-bay-see-eye) family. Within the group there are different plants, and the most commonly know are two called Hemp and Marijuana.
