School Improvement Goal

During the 2017-2018 school year all teachers will incorporate reading anchor standards into their curriculum at least once per six day cycle to improve student performance on the reading anchor standards on the 2018 MCAS test so all students are within five percentage points of the state average.

During the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years, students will improve their ability to write a constructed response and synthesize information from multiple texts, as measured by ELA MCAS results, so all students are within two percentage points of the state average.

  • Students will complete a constructed response pre-assessment for baseline

data.

  • Students will complete a self-reflection sheet on their writing strengths and

challenges.

  • Teachers will confer with students during workshop time in order to meet

the individual needs of students.

  • Students will work with the library media specialist to incorporate

technology and strategies for accessing text on the computer. The media specialist will show students how to access materials online and annotate text online.

during curriculum meetings how to synthesize information across multiple texts. The focus will be on how to build ideas as students create a thesis based on multiple texts.

  • Students will write constructed responses that include synthesis of

  • All Cameron students will learn the same online research skills. The

research skills are in line with Framingham High School’s expectations.

Reflections on 2017-2018

  • Successful Summit pilot in grade 7.
  • Expanded our leadership team to include a Dean of Students. This

position allows the team to begin to focus on social emotional learning.

  • Growth in math and ELA MCAS for each grade level.
  • School wide participation in Adviser groups.
  • Many new tier 2 interventions initiated this year.
  • Champions program has expanded, providing support to more

students.

  • Successful after school tutoring program has continued.
  • Increase in student participation in after school activities.
