Each pig produces an average of 1.2 gallons of waste per day and 4.1 standard cubic feet of biogas methane each day.

Our responsibility starts with the hog waste. We produce a lot of it!

Where does all that waste and gas go?

The waste was used as fertilizer and the biogas was released into the atmosphere.

Back in 2000, it was drained into these open lagoon pits.

So we installed lagoon covers in 2008.

But we thought covered lagoons were better.
