Our Task

  • 5. Juli 2018

Seite 14

To create framework conditions which support investment

  • With their products, German companies respond to the challenges of tomorrow and are therefore in demand all over

the world

  • Almost all German products contain a high degree of innovation. Continuous research and development ensure that

German products are among the best in the world

  • To maintain this performance, several conditions have to be fulfilled permanently. Many of these are shaped by

political decisions

  • So that industrial companies and industry-related services companies can continue contributing to growth,

innovation and employment, Germany has to be and remain an attractive location for investments. This requires framework conditions which support investment – also in terms of technical quality infrastructure

Example: Taskforce Brexit

  • In 2017 the BDI set up a task force Brexit, which works in ten thematic project groups with almost 200 members

from associations and companies

  • The Taskforce identifies potential and acute Brexit threats to economic relations and develops proposed solutions
  • The topics of environment, technology and sustainability are dealt with within the project group market access
  • The primary objective of the project group is to ensure the harmonization of the legal framework, even after Brexit

has been completed, and to maintain current high health and environmental standards

  • At the same time, there are many technical issues that need to be resolved before Brexit. Important elements for

example are transitional provisions in the chemicals legislation

  • In the negotiation process, the taskforce will rely on permanent cooperation, possibly in the form of a trade

agreement
