General Presentation of HEC a few words of history � Unique to France, the Grandes Ecoles were formed in the early 19 th century to channel the «best and the brightest» of the nation’s youth into the French ministries, armies and engineering corps. � HEC was founded in 1881 by The Paris Chamber of Commerce and I ndustry (CCI P) a semi-public agency representing businesses and education in the greater Paris region. � HEC was the first business school to create a campus close to Paris, inaugurated by de Gaulle in 1964. bd, 05/08
