Mead HS History and Highlights • Mead Consolidated School (Grades 1-12) 1917 to 1961 • 1961-2008 Mead students went to school in Longmont • Opened in August 2009 with just over 300 students • Currently 870 students are enrolled • 34% of the student population is Open Enrolled • In our 5 years, Mead HS has had a National Merit Finalist and a Boettcher Scholar • ACT Composite average score – 20.3 • Over 20 students in our short history have scored at least a 30 on the ACT Composite

Open Enrollment Process • Applications are available tonight and can be submitted now through the January 15 th deadline • Letters of acceptance or denial will be mailed out shortly after January 15 th • Current 8 th graders and parents are encouraged to attend our 8 th Grade Registration Night • Thursday, February 5 th at 6:00pm • All other grades will need to make an appointment with a counselor prior to February 26 th

A Typical Day at Mead High School • All classes are on a block schedule • Students are responsible for 8 blocks of classes • 4 block classes each day for 85 minutes each • Day 1—Blocks 1-4 • Day 2—Blocks 5-8 • 40 minute lunch with a closed campus for ninth and tenth graders • 20 minute SSR everyday from 10:20 -10:40am • School starts at 7:15am and ends at 2:15pm

Concurrent Enrollment Program Concurrent Enrollment classes through Front Range Community College The Concurrent Enrollment program allows juniors and seniors to take college classes while still in high school Students may take up to two college classes each semester Program provides students with the college experience SVVSD pays tuition / parents pay for books and fees COM 115 Public Speaking and CRJ 110 Intro to Criminal Justice are currently taught at Mead High School by FRCC instructors
