How it all began-

  • At the end of February Warden Bri Leland and myself did a site check where

two dead horses were found

  • We began the process of working with the owner to remedy the situation

and prevent any further deaths

  • This lead to staff and myself checking other sites where the owner had

animals

slide-16
SLIDE 16

We began the process of educating the

  • wner and what needed to be remedied

This lead to Notices of Violation and required Veterinarian checks of the animals under the

  • wners care
slide-17
SLIDE 17

The issues compounded and got worse

Animal Control had to step in and was assisted by the Department of Agriculture and the state Veterinarian

slide-18
SLIDE 18

Animal Control impounded the animals

We started to give the care that was necessary to save the remanding animals from starvation and dehydration

slide-19
SLIDE 19

Care in the form of food and water was given, Vets came on site to check the animals and give needed medication

Things were starting to turn around at the site and major steps were taken to clean and monitor the animals while they were in our control.

slide-20
SLIDE 20

The move!

We were then asked by the property owner to leave his property with all the animals.

slide-21
SLIDE 21

A press release was put out asking for help!

It came in the form of 81 people from all over the area 17 trucks with trailers also came

slide-22
SLIDE 22

We began the move…

slide-23
SLIDE 23

It took 2 hours and we closed Rt20

slide-24
SLIDE 24

But we moved it all and got the job done!

slide-25
SLIDE 25

With the help of County Maintenance Department we built shelters for the animals
