Staffing entitlement The value of teachers MoE will pay for at each school Staffing Provided in units of FTTE: entitlement is based on: F ull- T ime T eacher E quivalent Student Roll (# of students)  1.0 FTTE = 1 full-time teacher + Additional  Decimals correspond to part-time Staffing (e.g. special 0.60 FTTE = 60% employed education)

  4. Calculating staffing usage 1 pay period = 14 days  Teachers are paid fortnightly  Schools’ banking staffing is charged fortnightly 1 full-time teacher = 1.0 FTTE per pay period. 0.07 1.0 FTTE 14 days FTTE per day

  5. Day relief/ Additional hours  The rate for 50 hours (10 days) is 1.368 FTTE  One day (5 hours) rounds to 0.14 FTTE # days 0.1368 FTTE

  9. Automatic Adjustments During the balancing period, the system automatically applies a school’s over/underuse against the previous year’s balance.

  18. Overpayments Occur when a school is charged incorrectly for a teacher. School Notifies pay Pay Centre centre Calculates $ value of overpayment Sends letter to school & Banking Staffing Teacher Sends letter teacher copy to BS Adjusts team Repays MoE school’s balance

  19. Holiday Pay Teachers accrue approximately 21 days of holiday pay per term: • 14 for term break • 7 for summer holiday Schools are charged 14 days holiday pay during each term break.

Holiday Pay Capping When a teacher leaves mid-year, the amount of holiday pay charged to the school’s banking staffing is capped: Term 1 Term 2 Term 3 Term 4 Teacher is 21 days 28 days 35 days 42 days paid out School is 14 days 14 days All 0 days charged max max remaining Why? Ensures school is not penalised for hiring replacement teacher.

  22. End of Year At the end of the balancing period, Cut off = we have the school’s final banking pay period 26 staffing balance. Additional Staffing Teacher specific allowances;  Beginning, Overseas and Retrained teacher time allowances (BTTA) Release time for new teachers for professional development.  First time Principal Release allowances (FTPR) Release time for new principals in the first 18 months for professional development.  Specialist Classroom Teacher allowances (SCT) Secondary and Area schools only. They provide professional learning support to other teachers in the school, including beginning teachers, to enhance quality teaching practices.

  24. Additional Staffing  Classroom Release Time (CRT) Formulas vary per school type. Calculated based on entitlement but considered additional staffing.  Itinerant Teachers of Music time allowance (ITM) Secondary schools only, time allowance to coordinate the programs and for the professional development of these teachers. Calculated based on entitlement but considered additional staffing.  Reading Recovery (RRA) Schools apply to Local Office and the school matches what the ministry provides.  Special Reasons staffing (SR) Unique situation outside of the boards control, reviewed on a case by case basis.
