throughout presentation,

  • Have University logo.

  • Avoid messy background.
  • Avoid using too much pattern on your

background.

  • Use standard font such as Times New Roman or Arial
  • nly.
  • Use font size of 28 and above.
  • CAPITALIZE IF NECESSARY. IT IS DIFFICULT TO BE READ.
  • Use colour to emphasize your points.. But use it
  • ccasionally.
  • Use font colour that is not contrast to your background.
  • Too creative also is not good.

Introduction

  • Greater than 700,000 metric tons
  • f dyes are produced annually,

with 2-3% is reported loss to industrial wastewaters during manufacturing and dyeing (Sangon et al., 2018).

Seremban, Malaysia 23 January 2018 Guangzhou, China 13 May 2014

  • This pollutant considered dangerous

to the environment and result in the deterioration of water quality, thus affecting aquatic life (Heidarinejad et al., 2018).

The use

  • f

coal-based commercial ACs is

  • ften

impracticable due to its relatively high price and non renewable . The volume

  • f

sawdust from sawmills continues to increase and these residues are disposed

  • f

by

  • n-site

combustion deposition in landfill. Thermal process for activation step may take long processing time, involve high energy consumption and generate improper heating rate.

Wastewater from textile and dyeing industries are difficult to treat and possess serious hazard to the environment.

Research objectives

1

  • To optimize the operating parameters in the preparation of ACs from waste sawdusts

(ML,MR and RS) via microwave induced KOH activation and CO2 gasification for the removal of basic (MB) and reactive (RBV) dyes using response surface methodology (RSM).

2

  • To characterize the ACs in terms of surface area, pore characteristic, surface morphology,

surface chemistry, proximate content and elemental analysis.

3

  • To evaluate the effect of contact time, initial concentration, solution temperature, initial

solution pH, adsorption isotherm, kinetic, mechanism and thermodynamic in batch adsorption mode.

4

  • To evaluate the effect of volumetric flow rate, initial concentration, and bed height as well

as breakthrough modelling in continuous adsorption mode.
