Freedom of Expression

Miro Cellars searches the region for the finest grapes from a variety of vineyards to make

  • ne-of-a-kind specialty wines.

Award winning winemaker Miro Tcholakov considers the particular geology and seasonal climate variations of each vineyard when selecting the most interesting grapes the region has to offer. Because Miro has complete freedom to make precisely the wines he loves best, the results are a spectacular leap above the expected. Let yourself in on one of the best kept secrets in wine today—Miro.

Freedom of Expression 2012 Petite Sirah

The shortest way to describe the wine would be “dark and delicious.” Undoubtedly Petite Sirah in its core, but with refined and balanced tannin and—surprising for Petite Sirah—softness. Loads of blueberry and blackberry on the nose followed by toasty oak, cinnamon, brown sugar and dark molasses. The mouth feel is big and juicy, extracted but not heavy, finishing with fresh acidity and sense of balance.

Freedom of Expression 2012 Zinfandel

Finding and producing the ultimate Zinfandel has been my passion for over 20 years. A viscous and juicy wine that does not require a lot of aging to please you. Ripe without going

  • verboard, the wine is loaded with the “essence” of

Zin—wild berries, dark cherries and strawberries typical for Dry Creek Zins. The oak contributes aromas of spice, toast and slight vanilla- chocolate with a bit of a brown sugar. On the palate the wine is full, soft and finishes fresh and juicy. 420 cases made.

Freedom of Expression 2012 Reserve Zinfandel Wolcott Vineyard

This is the inaugural bottling from Wolcott-Bevill as a Single Vineyard Reserve. The vineyard is situated in the middle of Dry Creek valley on a southwest facing slope. This rich and satisfying Zin shows classic varietal flavors of ripe red wild berries, fruit jam, tobacco and white pepper. The taste is rich with soft tannins leading to a grand finale. Enjoy now or age for another 3-5 years. 300 css made

Freedom of Expression 2012 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

This relatively young vineyard is planted nearly at the top of Pine Mountain at 2200 feet elevation above the valley

  • f the Russian River. The moderate temperature inversion at

that altitude supports softer, richer tannins in the wine, concentrated wild berry aromas and enhanced varietal-specific flavors of dark fruit, slight earthiness and subtle spices. 300 cases made.

Freedom of Expression 2012 Cuvée Sasha

75% of the grapes in this classic GSM blend are grown in Montelago Vineyard planted above Clearlake and from Orsi Vineyard, Russian River Valley. What I love about Grenache is the seductively inviting aromas of jammy strawberries, dry apricots, guava and cranberry with hint of dry rose petals and Herbs de Provence that make you smell the wine over and over again. The mouth feel is clean, fresh and lively without any heaviness with focused acidity and food friendly softness. Cheers!

2011 Petite Sirah

“A great Petite Sirah that preserves the variety’s rich power, yet reins it in toward elegance. It’s enormously concentrated in ripe blueberry and cherry pie fruit, spiced with black pepper, and wrapped into thick but soft tannins. There’s a ripeness to the finish that makes it succulent, but it’s dry in style. Compelling and delicious, it drinks beautifully now.” — Steve Heimoff (8/1/2013) The Wine Enthusiast

2011 Zinfandel

“Miro is building an impressive track record for Zinfandel, putting to shame many others that cost far more. This ’11 is as good as anything they’ve done, and defines Dry Creek Valley with its ripe, briary berry, tobacco, cocoa and spice flavors. Smooth in tannins and bright with acidity, it’s beautiful to drink now with beef in almost any form.” —Steve Heimoff (8/1/2013) The Wine Enthusiast

2008 Zinfandel

A terrific Zinfandel, beautiful to drink now for its soft richness. Flatters the palate with deep, lingering black cherry and raspberry pie filling, vanilla, Indian spice and sandalwood flavors, but it’s completely dry, with rich, intricate tannins. Only 190 cases were produced, but worth the search.” — Steve Heimoff (2/1/2011) Wine Enthusiast

2007 Zinfandel

“This is a ripe, lusty Zinfandel, with many special qualities to recommend it. It’s dry and rich in smooth tannins, and offers a flood of wild forest berry, sweet new leather, red currant, mocha and exotic Asian spice flavors. Delicious, and will hold for up to six years.” — Steve Heimoff (12/1/2009) Wine Enthusiast
