  1. Artifact 2: Annotated Bibliography, Digital Poster, and Presentation Part 1: Annotated Bibliography Purpose An annotated bibliography is frequently assigned to help prepare students for writing a research paper. In an annotated bibliography, the researcher demonstrates what research has been done and explains why the chosen sources are important. The annotated bibliography is a very formulaic genre, so follow the assignment sheet when creating your final document. This assignment will help you organize your research materials and encourages you to consider the value of the sources you have found when investigating the background and work from a writer featured in The Feminist Memoir Project. Assignment You will begin with a brief introduction (at least 300 words) to the annotated bibliography that discusses the background and work from a writer featured in The Feminist Memoir Project in a general sense. What was her perspective on Feminism? How did she enact this perspective throughout her life and work? Why was she included in The Feminist Memoir Project ? You should not rehash the sources you include in your annotated bibliography, but should instead use synthesis and analysis to establish your own definition. Once you finish your introduction, you will provide a list of FOUR sources from the last ~10 years (since 2007) listed in MLA format that relate to in some way to your scholarly focus. These sources can be primary, secondary, or tertiary and can provide both general understanding and specific examples of your scholarly focus as it pertains to the background and work from a writer featured in The Feminist Memoir Project . ● Of these FOUR sources, you must include TWO popular sources . ● The other TWO sources must be scholarly . They must come from one of the following scholarly databases: Academic Search Complete, JSTOR, or Project Muse Database (http://www.library.gatech.edu/). In addition, they must be AT LEAST 10 pages in length (according to the official citation) and meet all additional qualifications for being deemed scholarly. *Note: Sources we read in class are not eligible for use in the annotated bibliography or poster presentation After providing the MLA citation for the source, you will write a précis/annotation of the work. Each annotation should include (in this order): ▪ Name the author, genre, and title of work, date in parentheses; a rhetorically active verb (such as "claims," "argues," "asserts," or "suggests); and a "that" clause containing the major assertion or thesis statement in the work in your own words. (1 sentence) ▪ An explanation of how the author develops and supports the thesis (i.e. evidence), usually in chronological order. (2-4 sentences)

  2. ▪ A statement of the author's apparent purpose, including an "in order to" phrase. (1 sentence) A description of the intended audience with support. (2-3 sentences) ▪ I encourage you all to frequently review the handout “Things to consider when creating your precis” available under Resources on T -Square. Summary of Requirements ● An introduction to your topic ● 4 sources with a correct MLA citation followed by an annotation; sources should be listed in alphabetical order ● Times New Roman 12 pt font ● A header (left justified, single-spaced) that includes the following items: Your name The due date The Class Annotated Bibliography ● The rest of the response (after the header) should be double spaced with 1-inch margins all around ● No extra spacing between paragraphs/annotations ● Last name and page numbers in the top right margin a 1⁄2 inch from the top of the page in appropriate font ● An original title (not “Annotated Bibliography”) Part 2 and 3: Digital Poster and Presentation Assignment You will thoroughly research the background and work from a writer featured in The Feminist Memoir Project in both popular and scholarly spaces. After you have done this research, you will create a digital poster with text, hyperlinks, and visuals that explains the focus you have explored (and includes reference to your sources in your annotated bibliography). Your poster should not only include the sources you selected for your annotated bibliography, but ~ 5 additional sources that you believe would be useful in understanding the concept you have researched. There are no scholarly/popular or date requirement for these additional sources. The only requirement is that they are reliable and credible sources on your topic. Finally, you will prepare a five-minute oral presentation for the class explaining the digital poster . You will not have time to discuss all of the resources. Your presentation should give an overview of the topic and focus on highlighting the resources the poster contains so that your audience may be aware of what they can learn from your material. Requirements Create a digital poster on a PowerPoint slide with text, hyperlinks, and visuals that explains your research focus. You should make decisions about visual and textual elements on the poster
