Executive Office Annual Report

• We had a 9% increase in registered players (Youth & MS +2% , HS

+13%)

• 5 new High School Girls Teams
• 21 new registered coaches
• Successful Championship Event again in Wellington and developed a

long term home for Championships in Wellington.

• Integrated the new website - floridarugby.org
• Each team receives ten new rugby balls for league through Union

Sponsorship with Ryve

• Florida sent more players to the RAST than any other Southern SRO
• Roll out of the Regional Model, fixes ready for 2018 season

Eligibility Guideline Changes

USA Rugby is going to be updating the Eligibility Guidelines for Youth & High School Rugby. They are creating two different tracks Scholastic Rugby (School Based Rugby) & Club (Age Grade)

• Rugby. These changes will be finalized and announced at the National Development Summit in

Mid January. As we do not have a separate single school league, the entire FYRU league season (U10s to Varsity) falls into Club (Age Grade) rugby category. With the new guidelines coming into effect right at the beginning of our season, we have been given the approval to begin to transfer over to the age grade system. With a few conditions as it relates to Varsity/U19 age group. To do this we need to vote on the following proposal and agree to initial age groupings and naming conventions.

Eligibility Proposal

Proposal is move the following age grade structures for both boys and girls

• Change from Varsity to U19’s
• Player must not have turned 19 before September 1st of the current school year.
• Players must have turned 14 before September 1st of the current school year.
• Players who are between the ages 14 and 16 can not play in the front row.
• Players who have graduated High School and have not turned 19 by September 1st are eligible as long as meet two requirements.

▪ 1) They have not played in college and/or an adult match ▪ 2) They notify the FYRU Executive Office that they intend on playing in the U19 division, this is a USA Rugby requirement until the new guidelines come into place.

• Change from Junior Varsity to U17’s
• Players must not have turned 17 before September 1st of the current school year.
• Players must have turned 14 before September 1st of the current school year.
• Players can play within both U19 and U17 Divisions. However, they are not allowed to go over their maximum 90 minutes of game

time per day.

• Change from Junior Juice to U15’s
• Players must not have turned 15 before September 1st of the current school year.
• Players must have turned 12 before September 1st of the current school year.
• Players who meet both the U17 & U15 guidelines can play in both divisions but they can go over the maximum 80 minutes of game

time.

• Keep U12’s
• Players must not have turned 12 before September 1st of current school year
• Players must have turned 10 before September 1st of the current school year.
• Keep U10’s
• Players must not have turned 12 before September 1st of current school year
• Players must have turned 10 before September 1st of the current school year.
