PASTORAL ORDINATION

PURPOSE

• THE PASTORAL OFFICE IS NOT THE AUTOMATIC

OUTCOME AFTER YOUR 4 YEAR STUDIES. (PREREQUISITE FOR ORDAINMENT)

EVALUATION: PASTORAL ORDINATION

• PROCESSES AND CRITERIA
• All membership requirements are a

prerequisite for ordination as a Pastor

• BA (Honours) graduate in Pastoral Counselling.
• Application for ordainment is a separate application

form and process.

• Spiritual Leadership & agreement to FM’s Faith

statement are the important guidelines for evaluation.

LICENSED MARRIAGE OFFICER

REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER AS A LICENSED MARRIAGE OFFICIAL:

§ FM must apply for registration with home affairs as the umbrella

• rganization

under which applicants may apply. § Applicants may then apply with official recommendation from FM. § Applicants must then write a marriage license officer exam with home affairs of which the passing requirement is 80%. § In the interim you can conduct the wedding by asking a registered pastor/reverend to be present and to do the statutory paperwork. § Filadelfia ministries is in the process of applying

PASTORS UNDER FILADELFIA MINISTRIES: LICENSED MARRIAGE OFFICER

For Filadelfia ministries to be a facilitator of a licensed marriage officer (ordained pastors under FM), it must register with home affairs. To register with home affairs,

• Filadelfia ministries must have a congregation

with a minimum of 250 members.

• You can conduct the wedding
• And ask such a pastor/reverend to do the legal

paperwork before or after the sermon.

STATE CONTROL OVER RELIGION (CRL)

HATE-SPEECH BILL

• The

department

justice & constitutional development recently released the draft hate crimes and hate speech bill (“the bill”).

• The definition of “hate speech” in the bill
• Is far too broad,
• Will have severe implications for freedom of speech.
• Wording of the bill will make those preaching and

teaching from the bible liable to prosecution.

• Violation of freedom of religion that is guaranteed

by the South African constitution.

REGISTRATION

• The question is, “Do I need to be registered to be a counsellor.”
• A license/registration is a permit from an authority to proceed with a specified

activity.

• THE GOVERNING AUTHORITY GIVES YOU PERMISSION TO WORK WITHIN THE REALM

OF THEIR SPHERE OF JURISDICTION, USING THE RESOURCES THEY HAVE PROVIDED FOR YOU.

• Good practice.
• Ethics.
• Accountability.
• DO YOU NEED TO BE COMPETENT?
• Yes, absolutely, training is extremely important.

But…

• The answer is, “YOU ARE ALREADY CERTIFIED.” - CHRISTIAN WORLD VIEW.

If you go into Christian counselling, I assure you that people will eventually not care if you have been certified/registered. What they will want from you is competent and compassionate counselling that helps them to live transformed lives in an uncertain and fallen world. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came to them and spoke unto them, saying, all authority has been given unto me in heaven and on earth.
