Technical Metadata Management
Business Metadata is the mission s specification of all information assets required for mission execution. The EIM Business Metadata solution enables Governance and Stewardship
things, Business Metadata provides the essential mission and business context to all Analytics & Data Science efforts. Technical Metadata documents the technical specifications of all physical data assets and where they reside in Air Force IT Systems, Interfaces, Data Warehouses and Data Lakes. Each Physical Data Asset is an instance of an Information Asset defined in the Business Metadata. It provides the required technical specification necessary for Analytics & Data Science Efforts

SAF/CO data visualization tools enabled AF decision-makers to immediately assess recommended COAs on projected pilot inventory
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The Air Force has a pilot shortage due to shifting strategic priorities and funding, increased rate of commercial airline hiring, and challenges with training.
APPROACH 1
SAF/CO gathered and analyzed data associated with pilots, training, and outside influences. SAF/CO leveraged recommended courses of action (COAs) developed by the Aircrew Crisis Task Force (ACTF), and analyzed by AF/A9 and RAND, to develop data visualization tools.
RECOMMENDATION 2
ACTF recommended these COAs to the Secretary of the Air Force with help from SAF/CO dashboards & visualizations:
EXPECTED OUTCOME 3
Based on the results of the Use Case, SAF/CO developed the ACTF Briefing Tool for AF decision-makers, enabling the immediate assessment of recommended COAs on projected pilot inventory.
INCREASE PRODUCTION:
▪ Modify pilot training syllabi ▪ Increase pilot production through additional plant capacity
IMPROVE RETENTION:
▪ Restructure pay to a professional model ▪ Expand retention through a variety of initiatives
REORGANIZE REQUIREMENTS:
▪ Recategorize pilot staff positions to unmanned staff positions
