INTRODUCE YOURSELF Today I will be speaking on behalf of United Way of Will County and _________ (your agency). First off, I’d like to thank you for your time, partnership, and support. Your involvement with United Way of Will County has allowed us to make an impact in our community. United Way of Will County focuses on Community Impact. But what does that mean? It means that they use data and research to identify our community’s most critical needs. Then, they work with agencies like ours so that the services offered in our community align with those needs. Community Impact is a comprehensive approach to social services and how they impact individuals, families and communities.

EXTRA INFORMATION: IMPACT AND INVESTMENT COUNCIL

The purpose of the council is to review funding applicatjons and make community investment recommendatjons for programs that:

  • 1. Meet identjfjed needs in Will County
  • 2. Best carry out the proposed outcomes and goals that United Way of Will County has

established within each community impact area. Impact and Investment Council Members  Atuend a community orientatjon session to learn about our local community needs and our commitments to creatjng positjve, sustainable change in Will County.  Read through and evaluate submitued grant applicatjons on how local programs will help meet local needs in Will County.  Visit an agency in order to gain fjrst hand knowledge on the program seeking support. This includes the opportunity to visit the agency, view the program in actjon (when confjdentjality is not an issue) and ask questjons for further clarifjcatjon.  During review panel meetjngs, volunteers will report what they learned during their site visit and agencies will atuend and educate the entjre council on their programs seeking funding. At the end of this process, volunteers will determine the funding investment from United Way of Will County that each applying program will receive.

Help United Way of Will County’s Impact & Investment Council.

 This council undergoes a day long training to learn about community

needs in their impact area and then listens to agency presentations to help to determine funding for local organizations, like ours.

 Nearly 100 volunteers come together to make this process possible – so

please join!
