Grand Est, in the heart of Europe… … Grand Est, in the heart of Europe • Grand Est is the new French region built from the former Champagne Ardenne , Lorraine and Alsace regions • going from Paris to the Rhine • approx 5.5 Million inhabitants • North East of France, in the heart of Europe • main cities : Reims, Troyes, Metz, Nancy, Strasbourg, Mulhouse • the only French region having a border with 4 foreign countries : Belgium (Wallonia), Luxemburg , Germany (Saarland,Rheinland Pfalz, Baden Wurtenberg) and Switzerland • one of the most attractive French region for foreign investment • just in between Toulouse and Hamburg… April 2018 2

AERIADES : history and key figures AERIADES : history and key figures AERIADES Aerospace cluster was created in 2003 , as a public company � Strong original support from the Lorraine Regional Council (Conseil � Régional de Lorraine) and the French Government Now supported by GRAND EST Regional Council , in the frame of 3 years � partnership programs (running program for year 2017 to 2019) objectives > develop and strengthen the Aerospace network first in � Lorraine, now in GRAND EST June 2005 : entering GIFAS (group of the French Aerospace Industry) � 2013 : entering EACP (European Aerospace Cluster Partnership) � AERIADES key figures � total 65 members , January 2018 : industrial members, technical � centers, higher education, vocational education, research � representing for the industrial part (values end of 2017): � Close to 3100 employees with a total turnover of approx 500 M€ (>50% in aeronautics & � space) and backed with a strong experience in Aerospace business � April 2018 4

For the whole single aisle AIRBUS A320 family, KEP Technologies in Laxou (54, NANCY) supplies as single source electronic housings for the primary flight control system Since mid 2006, these housings are assembled using laser welding technology April 2018 10

AEds Technologies in Witry les Reims (51) • dedicated to production, assembly, testing and repair of fuel and hydraulic tanks , for both commercial and military applications • several thousands of tanks manufactured in the Witry les Reims factory are in service within the French forces (Armée de l’ Air et Aéronavale) as well as foreign air forces April 2018 12

Focus on R&D activities Focus on R&D activities GRAND EST has a long and strong university and research background � University is representing over 150 000 students , 150 laboratories , and � over 10 000 teaching and research people 20 engineer schools , mainly mechanical engineering � GRAND EST is hosting 6 of the 70 French « Pôles de Compétitivité » : � clusters bringing together industry, private and public research, and academics, in order to identify, sustain and help financing R&D projects IRT – Institut de Recherche Technologique : technological development � platform, mixing industry and private and public research, with dedicated equipments and means � Several Technology Transfer Centers (for instance French Welding Institute: training – expertise – development in new welding technologies) A number of laboratories and companies involved in aerospace R&D , � participating to CLEANSKY and CORAC projects (CORAC equivalent to German LuFo) � Focus (among others) : materials (metallic and composites), new manufacturing processes, new technologies (additive manufacturing…) April 2018 15
World class events… … World class events • every two years, CHAMBLEY PLANET’AIR is hosting the LORRAINE MONDIAL AIR BALLONS, the world biggest hot air balloons meeting • several world records were settled during the 2017 contest : the most impressive was a mass take off in line of more than 450 hot air balloons ! • next edition, summer 2019 : you are warmly welcome !!
