  • Compass Housing was awarded $1.3m for a new 100-bed,

24/7 shelter in the First Hill Neighborhood.

  • New shelter will serve a co-ed population, including

couples.

  • First Presbyterian Church (1013 8th Ave.)
  • Outreach plan -- includes neighborhood notification and

a community meeting on May 22 at 6:30 pm at the church

  • Project should open in June/July 2017

  • Developing Navigation Center programming, budgets, referral protocols, and housing

Departmental Rulemaking Process for Improving Encampment Removal Protocols

  • New rules went into effect April 3rd

Changes from the public comment draft include:

  • Explicitly stating that identification and documents are a

part of personal belongings which will be stored by the City

  • Refined definitions of hazards and obstructions
  • Adding requirements to provide oral notice of an

encampment removal, where possible

  • Increasing the period for storing belongings to 70 days

Location Service/Vendor/Updated Count Under I-90 and Rainier Overpass Bellfor provides twice weekly bag and bulky item pick-up. 15th and Leary at 4814 15th Ave NW Waste Management provides twice weekly dumpster service. Ballard Locks at NW 54th St Waste Management provides weekly dumpster service. Myers Way Area (3/4 mile at 9000 - 9900) Cascadia provides weekly bag and bulky item pick-up. Additionally, the sanctioned camp on Myers Way receives Waste Management dumpster service managed by FAS & HSD. Diagonal Ave S and Airport Way S Waste Management initiating twice weekly dumpster service.
