  • Coroner’s Death Panel Review for Jan 2010 -

Dec 2015 was released November 2017:

  • BC Indigenous youth death rate was 2x

higher than non-Indigenous youth

  • Accidental death rate was 1.9x higher
  • 95 Indigenous youth died and were

between the ages of 15 and 24:

  • 60% accidental deaths (motor vehicle

crashes, drownings, overdoses)

  • 32% suicides
  • 25% were young parents
