  3. What is APP? A program for learners who are: very capable ▪ committed ▪ enthusiastic ▪ academic skills 6+ months ahead ▪ APP provides a complete and flexible pathway for selected students beginning in year 7, with individualised pathways from Year 8 to Year 12.

  4. Why APP? Learning is targeted to the students individual needs. ▪ stimulate deep learning and create personal challenge ▪ target student’s individual strengths when planning their pathways ▪ improves outcomes for academically talented students ▪ challenging and dynamic environment

  5. Structure of APP ▪ Complete pathway for selected students ▪ Year 7 - complete all classes together as one LG with the same structure as standard Year 7 ▪ Year 8 - managed individual pathway with access to acceleration in their individual areas of strength, remaining together for some subjects

How does it work? ▪ Greater connection to peers within this group ▪ Teachers plan for deeper thinking and making connections between ideas in the classroom and beyond ▪ Enhanced learning covers a suffjcient breadth and depth to prepare a student for acceleration or to give them a deeper understanding of subjects ▪ Students are encouraged and expected to be involved in a range of co-curricular activities

  11. Online Application ▪ Personal details ▪ Year 5 NAPLAN results ▪ Grade 5 Semester 2 Reports ▪ Statement of motivation from the student ▪ Language choice ▪ $20 testing fee (payable at Main Offjce - cash or credit card) Applications due: 15th May

  12. Testing Australian Council for Educational Research tests in: ▪ reading comprehension ▪ abstract reasoning ▪ written expression The tests are skill-based and are designed to identify innate ability rather than acquired knowledge. Testing will be on: Saturday 23rd May For sample test questions click here

  13. Interview ▪ Monday 1st to Thursday 4th June ▪ Applicant + teacher ▪ 20 minutes ▪ Start to get to know the kids ▪ Questions arising from applications
