Imagine that it is the year 2065. How should UC Davis:

• Reinforce the University’s positive impact on solving

global challenges such as food, health, environment, energy, water, etc.?

• Create the academic health care system of the future?
• Ensure student success based on new educational delivery

techniques and technologies?

• Sustain the University’s financial stability?
• Integrate the University’s physical locations and facilities?

The Chancellor has launched a visioning process that will result in a strategic framework for the long- term future of UC Davis: The deliberations focus on the following themes:

• Global grand challenges facing the region, nation, and

world (e.g., food, health, and environment)

• Financial/ resource sustainability
• Organizational efficiency
• Enhancing student success
• Diversity and inclusion
• Integrating our physical locations for greater visibility

and impact

Phases of the visioning process: Phase I: Develop a framework for consultation with UC Davis stakeholder groups Phase II: Broad consultation and a “listening tour” with members of the UC Davis campus community Phase III: Draft a vision for how to position UC Davis as the University of the 21st Century Phase IV: Invite public comment on the draft vision Phase V: Finalize vision for UC Davis as the University of the 21 Century

Role of the Committee for the University of the 21 st Century:

Chancellor created the Committee, representing four UC Davis stakeholder groups: faculty, staff, students, and alumni The Committee is integrating input from stakeholders The Committee is led by Steve Currall, Chancellor’s Senior Advisor for Strategic Projects and Initiatives and Helene Dillard, Dean of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

Time Line For Next Steps:

• Committee to complete preliminary draft of Vision for UC

Davis as the University of the 21st Century by early J uly

• Subsequent to the draft vision, public comments will be

invited from campus members, regional partners, and external reviewers

• Release of final version of Vision for UC Davis as the

University of the 21st Century by J anuary 2016
