▪ Three teaching positions have been eliminated due to low enrollment, starting in 2015 - 2016. ▪ Current Montandon class size is impacted due to reduction of staff. ▪ Lowest class sizes prior to reduction of staff :

▪ Kindergarten, First Grade & Second Grade Maximum of 11, 12 or 13 students per class

▪ If Montandon is closed, class sizes would adjust as equalized based on the number of sections in each grade.

 If Montandon students are moved to Baugher all

K-5 classrooms would be housed in regular, full- size classrooms.

 Baugher Elementary School would still have

minimallythree unoccupied full-size classrooms.

 Baugher Elementary would still have four

unoccupied large group areas allowing for more classroom space.

 PDE recognizes that Baugher Elementary was

built to house 900 students.

 4 more buses will travel to Baugher  Eliminate 1 van  An additional 10 – 15 minutes of travel for some

Montandon students would occur

 Current feasibility study is reviewing arrival

and dismissal circulationof cars, buses and vans

 Consideration is being given to requesting a

change in the traffic pattern exiting

 Teacher-mentor relationships are impacted  Building-wide systems cannot be created (i.e. SAP,

SWPB, Safe Crisis Teams, Threat Assessment Teams)

 Grade level teams are nonexistent  The total per pupil budget is negligible $21, 780

(i.e. library, nurse, guidance, principal, secretary, instruction, supplies, communication, books, furniture)

 Shared building principal position  Minimal diversity within the school

slide-19

 There is no recommendation to furlough any

Montandon teaching staff; all staff would move to Baugher.

 The school district has made professional staff

reductions over the last 8 years to be in alignment with student enrollment and budget.

 All of these reductions have been done through

natural attrition.

 Support staff furlough would be a Board

consideration
