Billy and Eddy have had a fruitful experience during the Lunar New Year holiday. When they meet again after the holiday, they chat about their experiences and find that global warming has had a great impact on the environment as well as their life. **** **** **** **** **** **** **** Scene 1 Narrator: Billy has joined the volunteer work to give out lunchboxes to the street sleepers. During the visit, Billy has a conversation with them.

(Lights on)

(SSA,B,C trembling in cold when A walks near and gives out lunchboxes to them.) SSA: I feel cold! SSB: I’m hungry! SSC: I feel cold and hungry! SSA: Oh, lunchbox! (Holding a lunchbox) Hey, it’s mine. SSB: No, it’s mine. (Trying to grab the lunchbox) (SSA & SSB start fighting). A: Stop! Everyone can get one. There you go. (Giving out lunchboxes to SSA,B,C) SSA,B,C: Thanks, young boy! You’re an angel! A: You’re welcome. How’s going? This winter is long and cold. SSA: Not very good until your help. Last month it was only 4 degree Celsius. I thought I would be frozen to death. SSB: It’s so bad especially under this situation. You know what? (Louder) The average temperature of this month is only 13.2 degree Celsius. Also, it rains so much that all

  • ur clothes and blankets have got wet.

SSC: That’s why we need help. We have no shelter and the temperature is so low; we can’t even keep ourselves warm! A: It seems you guys are having a harsh time. But why? SSC: Who knows? We just want to survive.

Scene 2 Narrator: Meanwhile, Eddy is having a trip in Thailand with his family. He goes snorkeling this morning.

(Lights on)

(Eddy and Guide keep swimming during the conversation) Eddy: Oh! I can see many fish. Amazing! The sea is so beautiful. Guide, where can we see the coral reefs? (Guide stops) Guide: Coral reefs? I’m sorry. It’s hard to find massive coral reefs in this region now. Many species have disappeared over the past ten years. Eddy: What a pity! Guide: The beautiful colours of the coral reef are fading and marine life is not as rich as

  • before. They all have to do with the climate change. It’s so sad.

Eddy: Oh my god! My leg…My leg is cramping! Help! Guide: (Sigh) Such a wimpy kid…

(Lights off)

Scene 3 (Stewards put 3 chairs in centre stage. Billy, Eddy and Peggy take the seats) Narrator: After the Lunar New Year holiday, Billy, Eddy and Peggy meet at a fast food shop.

(Lights on)

C: Hey guys. How’s your holiday? A & B: Pretty good. A: I took part in volunteer work and visited the street sleepers. It’s meaningful. I have come to know that they are having a harsh time as the weather is unusually cold. C: You had a fruitful holiday! How about you, Eddy? B: I went to Thailand. I had a good time snorkeling in the sea. C: Cool! Did you see the beautiful coral reefs? B: No, I wish I had. But the fact is there are hardly any massive coral reefs now. A: I wonder why these happen. Why has the weather become that unusual? C: Didn’t you guys pay attention in geography lessons? It’s because of global warming! B: What? But it’s freezing cold in winter. Isn’t global warming supposed to increase the temperature? There is the word ‘warming’ on it! C: Weather imposes its own dramatic ups and downs over the long-term trend. That’s why it’s unusually hot in summer and unusually cold in winter in recent years. A: Why does global warming occur? C: It’s because of the industrial activities of humans! These activities emit greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which trap the heat from the sun in the Earth’s

  • atmosphere. Eventually the earth gets warmer and warmer.

A: How can we stop it? C: We can’t stop global warming; but we can do our part to slow it down, like we can use less electricity. A & B: Peggy! You are a genius! C: (Laugh out loudly, feeling very proud) Of course! Let me tell you….

A & B: Hey, we got to go to play LOL. Bye. C: (Sigh and shake her head) Ordinary people always misunderstand the thought of genius. (Leave slowly) ~END~
