Here are some conversions between Imperial and Metric

  • measurements. We have learnt lots about Metric measurements

recently. Look at the table above and see if you can seperate these measures into Metric and Imperial, I'll start you off:

Hint: This week we have been looking at metric measures. We have not looked at imperial measures yet.

Skill - Model: Lets learn how to convert between some metric and imperial measures

I know that 1 inch = 2.5 cm so if I want to find 3 inches I need to multiply 2.5 x 3 = 7.5 3 Inches = 7.5 cm

Inches to cm Pounds to grams

I know that 1 pound = 450g so if I want to find 4 pounds I need to multiply 450 x 4 = 1,800 4 pounds = 1800g (1.8Kg)

Pints to ml

I know that 1 pint = 570ml So if I wanted to find 5 pints I need to multiply 570 x 5 = 2850 5 pints = 2850ml (2.85L)

Extension:

If we know this. Can we use the inverse to find the opposite measure?

12.5 cm = __ Inches 2,250 g = __ Pounds 3420 ml = __ Pints Example: 2700g = _______ Pounds Divide by 450 (or count up in 450) 450 900 1350 1800 2250 2700 = 1 Pound = 2 Pounds = 3 Pounds = 4 Pounds = 5 Pounds = 6 Pounds 6 Pounds
