  2. • Club Matters is a tool for you to use as you see fit – we are not being prescriptive about how you use it. • Encourage you to embed this within your own unique club development plan and make the most of access to resource / tools / SME’s which are on offer • This has evolved from 3.5 years of investment and will continue to change to adapt to demand, clubs’ wants and needs • After today, we want everyone to be confident in: • What topic areas are covered within Club Matters (business and financial planning to marketing to newer areas such as applying for funding guidance) • What types of support are available (online / face to face) • What tools are available (Club improvement tool) and how to use them In the process of launching: • Data / reporting for NGBs/CSPs • New content eg Funding • New workshop topics • Clubmark online 2

  3. Club Matters is a One Stop Shop of support for sports clubs which will provide support, learning and guidance on all aspects of running a club whether it is ‘large, small, formal or informal’. Club Matters brings together Sport England’s existing support for clubs; - Clubmark - Club Leaders ….. to create a single, integrated, free support package for clubs. 3

Convenient – online nature means it is convenient and flexible to fit around your busy schedule Free of charge – all materials and resources are free of charge including seminars and mentoring Attract and retain members – improving your club management can help attract and retain members. Resources will help you to market your club to new members Practical tips and guidance – the tools and resources available are easy to understand and implement along with help from expert seminar facilitators and mentors Understand you club & members – develop your understanding of the importance and your members and use the club feedback tool to learn what they think of the club Build a sustainable club – all the Club Matters tools aim to help your club remain sustainable for the future Improve and develop your skills – the skills you learn through Club Matters resources and tools can be implemented at your club and help you to enhance your CV too 5

This is an overview of the website – Club Matters is Sport England's one stop shop for sports clubs, providing free, convenient, practical resources to help you develop your club On the landing page you will find the following features: • News rotator at the top – continually updated to show new content, case • studies, sport-related stories Main topic areas of Club Finances/Management/People/Marketing in the • middle, lots of content available through here as well as downloadable toolkits/templates Left hand side, includes links to sections on “Improve my club”, “Workshops • and Mentoring”, “Clubmark” The yellow/orange navigation bar at the top shows a different way of • accessing the content including how to get to the ‘my club’ section of the system. An area you can access through this navigation bar is the “Get Started” section under “Find Support”  this is where all our user guides and site demos sit You will notice that the icons and colours relate to the four main topic areas – this • helps people know which area they are in even when they access the content via different routes Different entry points: Those who know exactly what they want – Search function at the top can be used to • 7

  9. E learns - These are free and simple resources. The e-learns last approximately 30-40mins with audio Toolkits – can be downloaded. Hold helpful hints and tips you can come back to at any time Areas covered: Club finances, club management, club people, club marketing The e-learns available are… • VAT and sports clubs • Simpler finance • Good governance • Developing marketing strategy • Effective facilities management • Get your cash flowing • Organisation structures • Evaluating marketing options • Managing capital projects Club Matters most recent newly developed content is to support clubs thinking about applying for funding. The 'Getting to grips with funding' resource includes support on things a club should consider before completing an application, and understanding the questions when applying. You can watch an interactive video which covers the types of questions asked by funders and things a club should consider in their answers. 8

  10. The workshops typically last approximately 2 hours and like all Club Matters support, workshops are open to anyone involved with a community sports club. The topics covered will mostly be relevant to those who have responsibility for, or involvement in running their club, either now or in the future. We encourage more than one person from a club to attend so that knowledge and business skills can be shared within their club. Through the workshops page you can find out where workshops are going on near you and you can book onto one of these free of charge 9

  11. The Club Improvement Tool is designed to get you thinking about your club, where it performs well, and where there are opportunities to improve. For areas where you need help, the tool will generate a club improvement plan and signpost you to recommended resources to help you develop your club. There are 5/6 questions on each topic Answer short statements around how your club is currently running • Get a rating and feedback on your response to each of the areas • Tell the tool the level you would like to achieve and by when • Receive a tailored development plan, directing you to the resources to help • you achieve your goals Share with your club and assign tasks to different members • Monitor and review club progress • Improve your club in 20 minutes 10

  12. In May 2016 Clubmark will be moving online. This will include an online portal for clubs to carry out their accreditation process. This portal will include: Clubmark Criteria • Evidence templates • The ability to upload documents • An online commentary between you and your assessor. • You will also find all documents you will need to promote yourselves as a Clubmark accredited community sports club. 11

NGBs, CSPs and clubs are invited to send in their feedback, videos, success stories and case studies to be shown on the Club Matters website - Make the most of a chance to promote your club on the Club Matters website! - They don’t have to be expertly written, the Club Matters team can create content from what you provide! 12
