The 5 Ms XMM-SERVS Heritage Program

At 50 ks XMM-Newton depth, expect ~ 11,000 AGNs and many X-ray groups/clusters

  • SMBH growth across the full range of

cosmic environments and SMBH/galaxy connections

  • Great legacy value as LSST/DES DDFs and

MOONS/PFS, TolTEC/ALMA, & MOS-RM fields

  • Ground-truth AGN sample for calibrating

LSST AGN selection PI: Brandt

Results from the XMM-LSS Field

Chen et al. 2018

5242 X-ray sources

In our prime 4.5 deg2, more than 70% of sources have spectroscopic or high-quality photometric redshifts 4858 (93%) X-ray sources have reliable counterparts from SERVS, VIDEO, CFHTLS, and HSC-SSP

SLIDE 5

W-CDF-S: 2.3 Ms, 79 observations

1.8/1.5 Ms PN/MOS exposure remains after flare filtering

3990 X-ray sources detected, and almost all are new! About 92% have reliable multiwavelength counterparts

Photo-z’s computed – forced photometry combing HSC, VOICE, VIDEO, and SERVS data HSC imaging published (Ni et al. 2019)

Ni et al. in prep. 4.6 deg2

ELAIS-S1: 0.9 Ms, 26 observations

0.8/0.7 Ms PN/MOS exposure remains after flare filtering 2800 X-ray sources detected (~2400 sources are new!) Waiting for the forced photometry combing data from DES, VIDEO, and SERVS

Ni et al. in prep. 2.8 deg2
