Work Package 8 Policy, Societal Challenges and Cooperation Observatory

In light of the fragmentation of monitoring of EU-MED cooperation and trends in societal challenges:

WP Objective

Creation of a Platform of Mediterranean Observatories linking, describing and analyzing the research and innovation potential and policies in selected areas where societal challenges for policy dialogue have been identified, to support monitoring policy development and cooperation.

Existing Euro-Mediterranean/National observatories are established (in the process) as independent entities. Need to support cooperation of different monitoring initiatives undertaken by relevant Euro-Mediterranean and National Observatories

Operatively, WP8 will support dialogue, synergies, valorize complementarities and establish links among different relevant

• bservatories; allowing for monitoring of

relevant indicators and elaboration of trends and scenarios to support RTD Policies in the selected societal challenges.

Networking to establishing bi-regional relations with and among existing Euro-Med Observatories and analysis of: Objectives, Functionality and Potentials (Observatories SURVEY) Establishment of collaborative linkages

Creation of a digital portal of EU-MED Observatories to include

• Descriptions of the observatories
• Aims/Objectives
• Fields/Areas of work
• Collaborating regions
• Monitoring indicators in relation to policy,

cooperation and trends

Thematic, Regional and Multi-disciplinary linkages to be developed and consolidated among observatories to enhance synergies and complementarities. A common list of monitoring indicators will be discussed to strengthen collaboration towards feeding national and regional

• bservatories, capacities and training

needs

Elaboration of trends and scenarios (based on observatories outputs) to support bi-regional policy, cooperation and trends within the societal challenges identified.
