221.270 RSMo. “It shall be the duty of the keeper of the jail in every county within this state to receive into his custody any prisoner or prisoners who may be from time to time committed to his charge, under authority of the United States, and to safely keep every such prisoner or prisoners, according to the warrant or receipt of such commitment, until he or they shall be discharged by due course of law of the United States.”
