Satan: A New RaaS Satan was flagged on 17 th January by security researcher Xylitol. • This service allows anyone to register an account (for free) and create their very own customised version of • the Satan Ransomware (in less than a minute). A user can specify the ransom amount, how much it goes up after a certain amount of days, and the • amount of days that the ransom payment should increase. This particular RaaS is the first to offer the user help with distributing the ransomware via SPAM or other • means. When the Satan Ransomware is deployed it will begin to encrypt data on the computer. • Through the RaaS website, registered users can see how many of the ransomware instances they sent out • were successful, and the amount they’ve earned so far.
