  1. ESTRA company, Moscow, Russia PicoR GPR – ice, snow, road pavement thickness measurement, searching for objects in the ground, through-wall imaging Contacts: +7 (499) 764-58-77, sales@ledomer.ru, ledomer.ru/en

  2. Who we are In 2012-2014 ESTRA has developed UWB radar technologies: transceivers, antennas, amplifiers, signal processing software. In 2013 we developed multifunctional GPR device PicoR. Now we continue to test this device in different environments and improve software. During last 2 years we have sold over 100 GPR devices PicoR in Russia, Sweden, France, Iran 2

  3. Our PicoR GPR can perform • ice, snow, road pavement thickness measurement and survey • searching for objects in the ground • detection of people behind walls All of this GPR devices: - have almost the same hardware but different software - are high frequency GPR that is they have high resolution but rather low operating depth - are much more cheap than competing GPR and designed for mass application 3

  4. PicoR Ice in operation In Yakutia region (East Siberia) On ice crossing in manual and transport mode for Ministry of Emergency Situation and private companies (oil and gas production, geology) 4

  5. PicoR Ice in operation In Alps mountains (Austria) Snow thickness measurement on the slopes of the ski resorts for the safety of people in manual and transport mode 5

  6. Device composition - Multifunctional radar module - Mounting of the radar module on the vehicle - Portable computer such as Windows-based laptop or tablet PC with field software - Navigation GPS receiver - USB-cable and USB-extension cables for data transfer and power the radar module and navigation GPS receiver - Stationary processing software for recorded signals, map overlay and export of data to be processed in other programs - User manual 6

  7. Technical Data Operating depth for ice and snow ………………………………….……. up to 2 m for asphalt and concrete pavement ………..…. up to 0.7 m for soil, sand ……………………………………………..…. up to 1 m for air (movement detection under walls)…… up to 15 m Accuracy ……………………………….……...…….………………………………….…... 1-2 cm Maximum speed of vehicle with radar …………………………..………..… 60 km/h Height of radar module above the surface of the ground ………. .. 15- 30 с m Positioning accuracy in offline mode ………………………………………..….. 2,5 m Dimensions of radar module …..………………………..………....…. 41 х 27 х 7 cm Weight of radar module …………………….…...……………………………….….. 1.8 kg Battery life (with laptop) …………………………………………………… up to 6 hours Operating temperature range ………………………………….…..…… -40 ... +50 ° С Readiness time …………………………………………………...………… less than 1 min 7

  8. Radargram examples Snow thickness measurement in ski resorts in Alps mountains Thickness 91 cm Thickness 183 cm Conditions: snow consistency: pressed artificial snow (0 ° C), underground: slate, soil, prepared slope 8

  9. Radargram examples Ice thickness measurement Yamal region (Northern Siberia), ice on the river and riverside Thickness 179 cm Moscow region, pond Thickness 4 cm. Minimum ice thickness for the device 9

  10. Pavement survey device 10

  11. Purpose of the product The device is a high-resolution GPR adapted to be used to determine the thickness of asphalt concrete pavement and pavement condition, namely: 1) Thickness of the asphalt-concrete pavement in the real time automatically (for road segments that satisfy the model described in the software - up to 60-80% of the length of the road) or manually using post- processing (for other sites). 2) Quality of the pavement. 3) Substrate type (concrete - breakstone - reinforced concrete). 4) Areas of mismatch of pavement. Also the device can be used as traditional GPR for searching objects under the ground – pipes, buried objects. Best of all, these objects can be found due to different layers of the ground during excavation which are well defined by radar 11

  12. Radargram examples Road pavement measurement Moscow, example of a well- defined layer of asphalt, base - concrete Thickness 33 cm Thickness 28 cm. Example connected with the map in a separate window (requires internet) 12

  13. Advantages • High performance allowing to work at the speed of 40-60 km/h • Automatic processing of the signal, the selection of the layer and the automatic calculation of the layer thicknesses • Possibility of convenient manual correction of border lines in unstable operation of the automatic algorithm in “difficult” places of road • Miniature size of the device and light weight make it easy to transport by one person in a standard laptop bag (without fastening a car) • When mounted on the car it almost does not increase the size • Low cost is less than the cost of the closest analogues 3-4 times. By retail the price of the device depending of the configuration is 4500-6500 USD It’s optimal to use this device with low frequency GPR (around 500 MHz) which let you see all the layers of pavement (depth up to 2-3 m) but with a lower resolution 13

  14. Through-Wall Imaging device is designed to detect people over the walls, under the rubble and any optically opaque barriers (walls and floors of buildings, including concrete slabs, unlit rooms, piles of building materials, damaged structures and rock avalanches, etc.), both moving and stationary (by wiggling and breathing). The device allows the operator to see people in the room “through walls” to determine the distance to them in real time, also the operator can see whether they are moving or not. For special services, police, rescuers 14

  15. Using the device Variant of fixing the tablet PC Device testing on the landfill of Ministry of Emergency Situations. We can find a person under several concrete slabs at 1.5-2 m over his moving and breathing 15

  16. Radargram example We see moving person from 0.5 to 4 m in the room behind the brick wall of 30 cm thickness 16
