Purpose of SIF funded projects The purpose of the Sheep Industry Fund Grants is for projects that will benefit the industry and address one or more of the SA Sheep Industries identified project priority areas. To help industry achieve these objectives, SASAG encourages funding applicants to target the following broad project priority areas for 2015-16 as developed out of the new Sheep Industry Action Plan and Investment Priorities. 1. Maintain robust and relevant animal health programs in South Australia 2. Improve community awareness and understanding of the sheep industry 3. Improve sheep wellbeing as well as welfare conditions 4. Improve industry access to training opportunities 5. Advocacy and industry development across the value chain. 6. Increase industry access and adoption of current and new information

  2. Who is eligible to apply for funding? Many organisations are eligible to apply for SIF funding for their projects. They include: • Non profit organisations – including registered charities or incorporated associations • Private enterprise businesses • Cooperatives • Local and State government bodies • Non-departmental government agencies – including tertiary education institutions, land councils • Regional Development Boards and NRM Boards • Research Organisations *****All applicants must have an ABN or a ACN to apply for funding****

  3. What doesn’t qualify for funding? Funding will not normally be provided for: • Infrastructure items, with the exception of the Dog fence and Box Flat Dingo Fence. If your project involves the purchase of a capital item it is recommended that you speak with the SASAG Executive Officer before completing an application form. • Retrospective activities or expenditure; • Duplication of research, programs or projects; • Purchasing of major equipment or activities that could be considered part of normal business operations; and • Any other activities that SASAG assesses as inappropriate.
